Some old news.....last week added to PGTAX and HTECX. Not giving up on tech. If it just market performs, it will be good. Also added to VLIFX and VMACX. With fall coming and Christmas along with more rate cuts, I'm bullish. Will see how smaller things do.
Yesterday opened positions in RSP for Mrs. Pudd. Hope the 497 start to work more as time goes on. We'll see. Also opened a position for my IRA: COWZ. Smaller stuff as I have enough S&P.
Looking to sell MANU. Bought September 11th.....on the 13th they announced a $400 million addition to the company float. Not saying when, but later. So, I think I'm going to sell. Owned it for 9 days----made 5%----call it a win and leave.
Adding to smaller cap funds, consumer staples ETF, utility ETF, and VCIT, Vanguard Intermediate term corporate bond index. Will not reinvest T bills and CDs as they mature.
The heady days of 5%+ MMs being over (the two I've used at Fido are down ~ 25-30 basis points each, with surely more to come), I've sent some of the cash to limited duration and opened a position in WSHNX. Not seeing enough upside to add to risk assets right now.
Quite a bit more cash coming in in October with two maturing T bills, so some planning is the task of the moment for this lowish-risk retired investor.
@Crash: I’m going to ME in October. Do you want me to case the joint for you? I could walk in, ask for the head honcho, tell them I “know” a big shareholder and see what kind of welcome I get. Check the peppermints in the lobby, test the level of service, dangle a big future deposit in front of them; the usual due diligence. My people can get together with your people regarding my fee.

Thanks! You flatter me. But ...no need. If you should stumble across the central branch, maybe just post a picture here?
Have opened a position in IEO today for 89.31. Sold it earlier for 96.62. Will add on weakness, sell on strength. What I really want is natural gas. Will see how things go.
I am adding to UTES and energy. AI needs lots and GRID will also benefit. But they could all crash if AI flops
But then so would everything else One newsletter I read had an analysis of TSMC energy needs. All fossil fuel and little renewables in Taiwan. Wind vulnerable to Chinese harassment offshore
Taiwan certainly seems vulnerable to even mild Chinese harassment

The price of used computers/laptops, and many other things, will skyrocket.
Energy seems to be one of the only sectors that seems undervalued. I've been playing with the home builder stocks also as mentioned earlier, but they may have already priced in the current rate cuts.
Have been buying CVX (Chevron) to play energy. I've read a couple current articles suggesting SLB (Schlumberger) may also be a good play right now, so I'm considering that one too. CVX and SLB seem to trend in tandem, so I don't know what I would gain owning both.
NYT has a "nuclear power is a disaster" article harking back to Three Mile Island, which I remember well. I saw "China Syndrome" the day before three mile Island cratered. Talk about life imitating fiction!
The New Yorker had a three part article ( remember those?) about what went wrong. It was basically operator stupidity. You would think AI and better computerization wol fix this.
Bottom line is it will be impossible to contain global warming and meet power needs without nuclear, which may still be cleaner than coal and the environmental damage from fracking etc.
I can't imagine restarting Three Mile ISland will be easy or cheap.
Other ideas worth considering are NLR, URanium ( has had a huge move up) and even SMR ( modular nuclear reactors which have yet to have a successful installation and even Sam Altman backed OKLO. Both of the later two are rising from the dead
"Bottom line is it will be impossible to contain global warming and meet power needs without nuclear, which may still be cleaner than coal and the environmental damage from fracking etc."
Yes, my thought also. It's going to take wind, solar, and (unfortunately) also nuclear to get where we need to go. Best of some bad choices.

There could be solar on every roof and parking lot in the Phoenix metro, but our utilities haven't figured out how to get richer on it.
Here's something California ought to be thinking about. Dinky linky.
Yeah, I remember Three Mile Island. Live like 60 miles from it. Was a very scary time. Were they telling us the truth or just lying to keep the people calm? I myself don't see it starting up....but could be wrong. Why? Local, state and federal governments. Big if's also....elections between now and then. Also, permits. How long are they valid? Don't know. Methinks there are cheaper ways. I don't see wind or solar here. Land way too expensive for this.....think gas. You can turn it on and off to suit the need. After all, it's all about the money, right?
@WABAC, et al: an Alberta company called Flexible Solutions International (https://flexiblesolutions.com) has been trying since the early nineties to sell a product called WaterSavr that is intended to inhibit evaporation of water from bodies of water as large as reservoirs down to home swimming pools. Unfortunately, the company has never seen its stock (FSI) rise meaningfully above single digits. The company offers other ecologically sound solutions as well. If only good ideas made for good stocks…
There is dirty energy and then there is dirtier energy; and "clean" and renewable energy; and then there is energy which comes from a source which produces waste which will have to be juggled and dealt with for 90,000 years into the future. There's only so many useful glass receptacles you can create in order to make the lethal, dangerous fallout inert.

Bought 1000s APA for an anticipated long-term position based on developments in their 50-50 partnership with TTL in Suriname that is getting FID tomorrow, plus they have some interesting smaller activities around the world. They're also small enough that someone may take them out, which would be fine by me .... and it has a 4% dividend with a low payout. (I own TTL in my other account)
Still hoping utes pull back, but I may start nibbling on them to DCA into positions so I hopefully don't pay up too much at once.
@rforno: I noticed that M* has a recent blurb on APA in a discussion of undervaluations in the energy sector. I could not track down TTL under that symbol. Is it Total or another energy company? Thanks.

Sorry, I meant TTE not TTL ... Total Energie, a major French energy firm

PS: Dear SEC, I had no insider information, I just did my homework.
