  • should we just go the scotus route and slowly\effectively privatize?

On the civil side, us common investor folk are already there. For example, here's Fidelity's predispute arbitration agreement where we give up our rights to sue in court.

does MAGA realize the judicial system is a tax-funded public good that can also be the target of wasteful litigation? and some citizens have initiated many hundreds of frivilous cases? sure, it will keep him out of prison, but what will trump do for entertainment when project2025 defunds it?
should we just go the scotus route and slowly\effectively privatize?

It's not *their* money (so to speak) so they don't care. And yes, they are all about the entertainment value of his political antics and feeling like they're part of the spectacle.

Interestingly, today one of their young podcast 'influencers' (Fuentes, I think) came out calling MAGA a 'cult' and essentially slamming the movement's followers who engage in blind-faith idiocy in the presence of their dear leader.

The real enablers of Trump are Mitch (the tap dancer) and all other Republican politicians who and whose spouses were mocked by Trump at some point.

An investigation by the nonprofit newsroom ProPublica found that Trump Media, the parent company of the Republican presidential nominee’s social media platform, Truth Social, hired workers in Mexico from an outside entity “to code and perform other technical duties.”

Last month, the news outlet reported that a whistleblower within the company called for the resignation of CEO Devin Nunes due to the firm’s decision to outsource jobs that could be done by Americans.

Odds in the betting markets: Polymarket, Kalshi, & Predictit. All three show 90+% for Trump as of 8:30 PM PST. They were near tied as of 4:30 PM PST.

None in this forum. It would be interesting to see how the stock trades going forward, given so many took their gains in the last four days.

Hanging on to a few Trump trades did not feel great the last few days. Can not wait to see how they would open tomorrow - I am sure I do not enough.

DJT performance today is underwhelming, up 6%. Many Trump trades were up many times that. So, those that took gains in the last few days were right to do so. If you shorted this sucker when it was trading in 50s, you did fine to close today.

What might be the DJT trade

chang, were you able to get your vote in for Trump from your residence in Europe?

  • And 72,389,776 people… The popular vote was a landslide.
A 3% differential is usually not referred to as a landslide. But hey, whatever narrative works for you.

Hyperbole is reserved for sales people (and for outrage machine like news / opinion media) and may not be suitable for polite company. However, let those that are giddy feel it and hope they are never on the receiving end of the wrath.

    Kamala 67,878,826 votes
    Trump 72,560,841 votes

I get 6.9%. Yes, it works for me.

Seems the KH supporters here are mostly sore losers. I hope everyone is pulling for Trump to succeed, but I suspect you would like him to fail. But I would not make the fatal mistake of disparaging her supporters.

@chang, For a guy that runs (owns?) a forum (BB), more is expected of you. You are giving a bad name to gracious winners.
  • @chang We know you are just trolling. Don't pull the "sore loser" card.

They must be missing you back at your other website. You should stay there.

I see. So you are only interested in the views of people who think exactly the same way you do?

That’s why BB exists. To freely share different views.

So, I went to BB and saw the following discussion from today:

    Poster Win1177 posted,

"I was surprised by the outcome and vote. I thought Harris had momentum and enough women who were “pissed off”/ incensed by Trump that they would vote against him. Boy was I WRONG!

But it is what it is, we have to live with the outcome, although I (as a physician) am VERY worried by some of his proposals, such as putting RF Kennedy in “charge” of DHHS! Talk about a dangerous move! He will withhold important vaccines that have saved millions of lives! Diphtheria, Tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, etc. Not good for our future!

    Win"

Win is a physician with a specialty and was a respected Prof at a Medical School before retiring. Win does not seem to have a history of making controversial or partisan posts.

    Chang's swift reply,

"win1177 Please tone down the rhetoric. RFK is not in favor of taking away anyone’s vaccines- you can Google his statements on this. What you claimed is false. Also, I know several physicians who would like Fauci investigated for possible perjury to Congress: physicians as a group are hardly united in their views."

I think I will stay at MFO.

  • From Ed Yardeni today:

"We're sticking with our investment recommendation to Stay Home rather than to Go Global. In other words, overweight the US in global stock portfolios.

For now, we're also sticking with our subjective probabilities for the following three scenarios: Roaring 2020s (50%), 1990s-style stock market meltup (20%), and 1970s-style geopolitical crisis with a possible US debt crisis (30%). But we are considering raising the odds of the Roaring 2020s scenario as a looser regulatory environment and lower corporate and income taxes under Trump 2.0 should boost investment and propel productivity-led economic growth."

chang, yes, of course, we are pulling for Trump to succeed. As a good American would do, didn't Trump pull for Biden to succeed?

  • It's about going to the middle.
Stop the woke, and the extreme.
    Everything is not racism.
Schools and universities can't be teaching mostly one side. All views should be encouraged in campuses without fear and riots.
Politicians should listen to the people, the garbage ones too, instead of enforcing their ideas on all of us.
Uncontrollable illegal immigration while denying the truth must be stopped.
Boys/men should not allowed to participate in girls/women's sports.
I wish abortion would revert back to what it was. Extreme GOP lost their mind.
Law and order should be restored starting from small theft.
    There are more.

Lastly, the Dems should stop persecuting Trump everywhere and all the time. Enough is enough.

So let a convicted felon go unchecked. Just give him carte blanche. Let him shoot somebody on 5th avenue. "When you are a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p...y".
This is why the Cult of Trump is not respected. Some of us see him for the con man/perp that he really is. WHY DOES HE GET A PASS ON THIS????

He stacked the court system with his judges (for example, see one AILEEN CANNON). He will now get his loyalists into positions of power, and Project 25 rolls out. There is no middle. There will be Trump loyalists blindly following his wacky agenda, and a mostly unchecked GOP.

If he follows through on tariffs, the economy is sunk. Plain and simple. Ironic, in that the parrots keep chirping about how great he will be with the economy.

Blame the Dems for this mess, they pivoted from Biden just in time...only to land another weak candidate. Harris ran a timid campaign, even though she could out-debate Orange.

Opportunity lost, and we will all pay the price.
  • FD1000,

I vomited after your first sentence:

"It's about going to the middle"

At a summit hosted by right-wing Moms for Liberty group last summer, Trump boasted
"I totally transformed the federal judiciary".

As Gregg Nunziata, the executive director of the conservative Society for the Rule of Law recently said:

"I fear that in a second term, you might see a reelected President Trump imposing more of a political test on prospective judges and looking for people who will be more loyal to him personally or to the Republican Party in general"

“It is one of the scariest parts of it,” he said in response to a question about Trump’s potential court nominees. "Look, the Supreme Court has never been as out of kilter as it is today."

And, Trump has made it clear that he would go sharply right in a second term.
