The most WOKE state in the country failed again.
Lack of infrastructure, preparedness, and execution. They also cut the police and firefighters budgets.
On the other hand, they increased DEI budgets.
The governor and LA mayor denied everything.
"Saving" the planet didn't work either. The amount of dirty air is unbelievable.
Of course, they expect all of us to pay for it.
One woman said the following: Next time, vote for the right people. When you hire a plumber, do you care if this person is R or D or WOKE? No, you want the right one with plenty of experience.
How many chances can Gavin Newsom and LA majors get?

Just about every State and town needs upgrades to virtually all of their infrastructure. That's the eternal song in the halls of Congress. But not much ever gets done. Doesn't matter if Dems or Reps are in charge. What about Joe's Infrastructure Bill? In my State, they've managed to fritter away a bunch of our share of the money by installing speed humps in the streets. Dumbest shit, ever. (Not speed bumps, like those found in parking lots, everywhere.)
California has contributed more to the federal budget than it ever received for many, many years.
We are paying for YOUR MAGA states, BS1000.
Can't wait to watch this "unfold".
Yeah, sure, sure - its CA's fault, its Biden's fault, the mayor, etc - MAGA is big on the blame game. They sell hate, and there are no shortage of buyers.
He and his sort believe that whatever they say is "reality". Facts need not apply.
- Do you agree with MTG that Democrats can control the weather?
- Have you ever stood in a 100 mph wind?
Typical of your side to try and make political hay out of natural disasters and human suffering. How can you sleep at night?
That said, it’s not becoming of anyone (including FD) to try to capitalize politically on such a tragedy. Sure, there is always plenty of fault to be found when any disaster occurs. That’s true of plane crashes, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, floods, industrial & transportation related accidents. There’s always something that could have been done better - including perhaps here in the issuance of building permits.
Maybe the area wasn’t suitable for homes in the first place. Maybe there was failure to adequately cut / clear the tinder-dry trees and brush. I don’t know how you could have asked low-flying fixed wing or chopper pilots to fly in and drop water in dangerous 80-100 mph winds. No residential water supply is equipped to handle massive wildldfires (Some wildfires in Canada have been burning for 2 years or more). I live close-in to dense brush & forest. It’s something you think about when prolonged drought occurs, as for several months last summer & fall. Fortunately my home and those of my neighbors did not fall victim to such tragedy.
A comment on humanity … Whenever a tree cutting service pulls into a neighborhood the residents shout, “Don’t cut down my tree.” That’s true of utility crews, construction crews or trees cut for public safety. They’re so damned pretty no one wants to take one down.
Take a peak outside
I recall meeting a couple who had long resided in Grand Rapids, MI, and then made the move to Northwood, CA, because of the wonderful climate and new opportunities for their travel business. After an earthquake and a couple of fires they realized the folly of their venture and packed up, sold the house at a loss, and returned to boring, cold, unwoke, fly-over country here in MI.
we live in Pacific Northwest for several decades and observed wildfires in the urban areas more frequently in recents years. We used to think it is too wet here for most of the year so that there are few combustible materials available. With longer dry periods over the summer, this view May no longer be valid. This area is heavily forested and they potentially pose fire risk just as what is happening in southern CA and other parts of western US states. The hotter, drier, and longer conditions can only contribute from global warming. And that only one risk. The West is running out of water !
In FD’s case, he does contribute to the investment side of the board. And I occasionally learn something from him - bloated ego aside. So it seems reasonable (to me anyway) that he participate in the OT section. That’s a lot different than an outsider (like the now defused “Bang” guy) moving in for the sole purpose of harassing the regulars here. Never tolerate that.

Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
“Fire And Ice” - Robert Frost
Sometimes it's useful to see direct evidence of the pathetic ignorance of "the other side" rather than just speculating about that possibility.
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

1) No admission that CA leaders did anything wrong while there are plenty to go with
2) You continue to post hundreds of times MAGA this and MAGA that. CA is controlled by the DEMs.
3) I never said CA didn't contribute. CA have been doing a lot. Of course CA paid more taxes. More people, higher salaries, and great companies have been doing it.
4) There is no denial that WOKE is more rampant in CA than most other places.
5) (link) "The LAFD has a total of 183 trucks, meaning that more than half of the city's fire trucks are out of commission as the fires continue to burn through dense urban spaces"
All the CA leaders are pointing fingers at others + have excuses and denials instead of taking responsibility.
Gavin Newsom and California Democrats reach $50M deal to Trump-proof the state (link).
Do you think this helps their case for assistance?
LA Mayor is out of her league; see (link)
"“This is an event that had exceptionally long lead times, not only of the powerful windstorm that we anticipated but also the potential for a particularly dangerous situation, red flag warning, fire weather conditions,” Cohen said." (link).
CA has some of the brightest people in the country and a huge budget. Where is the long-term planning? Fires are a known problem for years.
Pacific Palisades reservoir was offline (link).
The above is just some of the problems and are not MAGA sources.

Lastly, this is from personal experience. My SIL grew up and lived in several cities in CA, from south to LA and all the way to San Francisco. Of course, he is a biased Dem. We don't discuss politics much any more.
Several months ago, he had to visit SV(Silicon Valley) and SF since his company's main office is there. He comes back and tells me it was awful. I asked, why is that?
He told me there were hundreds of tents in SV + SF. When he walked in SF in places he loved, he was harassed and almost got beaten by homeless and drug users, and many stores are gone.
So I said, Who is in control? Who is responsible? Do you finally understand now that being Dem does not mean WOKE, Dem used to be a good party, which is why I voted for Clinton twice.
You can now continue to post MAGA 20 more times and refuse to discuss the subject at hand.
“Los Angeles weather is the weather of catastrophe, of apocalypse, and, just as the reliably long and bitter winters of New England determine the way life is lived there, so the violence and the unpredictability of the Santa Ana affect the entire quality of life in Los Angeles, accentuate its impermanence, its unreliability. The winds show us how close to the edge we are.”
Mother Nature will do what she does no matter what preparations you think you have. Handling a wildfire seems to me to be a nearly unsurmountable task from the get-go but you do the best you can. When you think that you are prepared to handle a wildfire tell me how do you handle four (4) at once? I'll wait.
Being woke or not has absolutely zero point zip to do with any of this! How do or did the non-woke states handle:
- Katrina (Louisiana)
- Ice storms (Texas)
- Tornado's (Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Tennessee, Kentucky and probably others)
- Hurricanes (Florida, North Carolina)
What a stupid argument when you're dealing with natural disasters.
