I got the same notice from Vanguard Brokerage. It is now T+2. I've always had the funds in the account before I made a purchase, so I don't see this affecting me.

I bought some VMVFX last March. Since then I twice bought more. I don't have much cash now and I don't want to sell any of the 20 other funds I now own, so I'll let it coast along. I liked the idea of less currency exposure in the foreign markets.

I would vote for TRMCX manager Wallack for MoTY. I was able to purchase this fund in May 2009, just after it reopened to new investors. My last buys were in late January and February 2016. Later it didn't go unnoticed by me that the fund was doing q…
According to Morningstar's page on the Bruce Fund, the distribution date last year was the 18th. In previous years it has been as late as December 21. Hope that helps. Dave
If someone is under Medicare age, and is expecting to receive subsided Obamacare coverage, receiving Social Security between 62 and 65 years old would impact the subsidy as Social Security counts towards the Modified AGI calculation. A lower subsidy…
In a way, fund expenses present an additional risk. Will the higher expense fund provide returns that exceed the additional cost? This is what I ask myself when evaluating a change in my fund investments. Myself, I like a combination of active and p…
Looks like the fund went down by 15% today. At first, I thought they had sold Valeant but the quote from Morningstar was 3/14. When I saw the quote was old, I searched and found today's.

That $25000 in 1983 dollars is now slightly over $60000 in 2015. Seems unfair that this amount was never raised over the decades.
Also just saying, Dave
I remember Lafayette Radio. There were a couple associate stores in the area. The owner was an old time ham radio operator. In the seventies the stores lost the Lafayette name and went by the business name. In 1961 the family went to New York City a…
LOL.
Speaking of that, look at NVO.

The investor does not make money on a capital gain realized and paid out by a fund. When the gain is paid out (either in cash or shares), the NAV of the fund decreases by the same amount. But the investor has to pay taxes on this "gain". When the in…
I've found in past years the distribution totals were fairly accurate but would shift a little in the amounts of dividends vs. short term cap gains vs. long term capital gains.
These gains are based only of the gains and losses the fund incurred w…

I have two funds underwater YTD out of 28 open end funds and ETF's that are on my crowded portfolio. Bringing up the rear are RYSEX at -1.36% and PRSVX at 0.99%. My top two are BRUFX at 15.25% and PRHSX at 16.28%. All these funds I've owned for seve…

This is very rarely mentioned. Morningstar did recently write about this, calling it the "tax torpedo". People should be aware of this, even way before they reach retirement age. This is an added advantage of the Roth as that appears to escape the s…
At first I thought it was a merger announcement between Radio Shack and godaddy.com. :)

The Gold to Neutral change is of no concern to me as Morningstar explained this was due to the new manager not having a track record running a fund.
I think the relative positions of the compared funds is noise at this point. With only a little ov…
I've owned a small number of shares of Bruce Fund for just over two years. My holding represents a 3% slice of my investment assets. I've been aware of this fund for a long time but didn't buy until recently. Can't own them all. Now that I'm in, I'm…
Of my two dozen mutual fund and ETF investments (no individual stocks), I've held VPMCX since October 97 and RPMGX since March 98. All other investments I've held 10 years or less. These funds closed a long time ago and that may be the reason that I…

I did notice that the other day. My reaction was very positive. A nice improvement. I wonder how many will try to buy something in all grid squares? ha ha.

I bought a small amount of the Bruce Fund this year. The amount represents less than 2% of my entire portfolio. I was looking for additional small cap exposure as well as the moderate allocation features. I got both in one fund. I like the small AU…
I can't blame Matt for taking some of this fund off his table.
I've been invested in FAIRX for three years. My last investment was made in Feb 10. At
that time I felt that I was to my limit in this fund, at about 5% of my total portfolio.
