    Thanks Mark.

I did not say it correctly. It is the passthrough issues in my IRA I was trying to avoid.

    Thanks.

Krugman, what a joke. He is a politically opinionated economist.

  • * Trump issues new executive order dismantling DEI programs
    * Government employees are warned they may be placed on paid leave
    * FAA told to conduct safety review

If you want Trump to fail and the markets to tank, you are missing out. Thank you Krugbots.

After killing DEI, I hope Trump kills ESG next.

Can't argue with hiring the best people for the job, rather than maintaining quotas or "affirmative action." I don't care if you come from Pluto and your skin is plaid, if you're the best one for the job. And of course, it's often NOT the case that just a single, "best" individual needs to be found. Governments and companies need to hire people often in large groups, en masse. Not individually, except in upper echelon executive positions.

Krugman is no fool. Ya, he leans Left. You don't like that, @FD1000. I don't like the fascist, 1984-ish false narratives and lies being spewed out of the Orange White House. Like Bernie, I'm willing to agree and connect with policies that serve the American people. Tighten the border. Get back to some common sense regarding sex/gender. OK. But the lies and vitriol being put forward since the Inauguration turns my stomach. What's being done demonstrates that "history rhymes." Orange Executive actions so far harken back to the double-speak in Soviet Russia. And there are going to be a great many victims, once the pogroms begin in earnest.
  • What's the spin on Dump removing the $2 cap on generic drugs? He rescinded Biden's action to lower prescription drug costs for Americans on Medicare and Medicaid.

He is such a tiny man that he must remove all the policies that came before him, regardless of whether good or bad.

    A very tiny man.

Christ, is this really all you got? Nothin substantive. So weak. Remind me to stop defending your intellect.
  • "Politically opinionated economist". Jeez, what next? Never had any of those before...
  • Inflation Reduction Act and Medicare Part D changes

Did Trump eject the above or are they still working for 2025?

    Thank You, Derf

Inflation Reduction Act, 2022 cannot be cancelled by an Executive order. So, Part D out-of-pocket limit of $2K, insulin cap of $35, Medicare authority for drug negotiations, etc remain.

However, somethings where Biden used Executive Orders were reversed by Trump's Executive Orders - some ACA expansions, drug-pricing model trials, $2 cap on copays for generics for chronic conditions, etc.

Moreover, some Executive Orders may really be Executive Proposals or Executive Guidelines. There are already several lawsuits.

Puts me in mind of Nixon’s inflation reduction act. Except he went further. He “froze” it. Back when a full sized automobile with V8 / automatic cost around $3,000.

  • @yogibearbull, "However, somethings where Biden used Executive Orders were reversed by Trump's Executive Orders - some ACA expansions, drug-pricing model trials, $2 cap on copays for generics for chronic conditions, etc."

What possibly could be the theory behind Trump reversing this?
  • "I am having trouble understanding how a member of the bar could state unequivocally that this order is constitutional," the judge told a U.S. Justice Department lawyer defending Trump's [birthright] order. "It just boggles my mind."
  • Thanks for answering my question @yogibearbull

Don’t know bout you guys. But I had absolutely no say in where I was born,

  • I wish that I'd had a say as to whether or not Trump was born.
  • Hey Old_Joe…… I never thought of it that way but good one!

I am anticipating higher inflation as a result of some of these actions, specifically tariffs and the immigration crackdown. Many of our goods in the US are imported from other countries that can produce things cheaper. Tariffs will increase prices for most of these goods. Will it encourage companies to produce more of these products in the US? Possibly, but at higher prices.

Reducing immigration and removing immigrants from the US is bound to create labor shortages, particularly for jobs that are less desirable. Some examples— farms, meat processing plants, restaurants, menial labor, etc. Will this create more jobs for US citizens? Only if they’re willing to do such work for low wages. Employers, of course, could increase wages but that is also going to fuel inflation.

The bond market seems to be expecting such results as indicated by rising yields ever since the election.
  • Why don't you folks give Trump a little time to see how his policies work. No matter what he does, some are going to like it and some are not. After all, he was elected President. Give him a chance to work things out.

We have gone through four years without an effective President. President Biden seldom talked to the people or answered questions. We never knew what he was doing or if he was actually the person doing it. You may not like what he says, but President Trump has been before the press every day, since he has become President, answering questions. We always know what he is doing and what he thinks even if we don't like it. I may or may not agree with him, but I appreciate his openness.

So give him some time and if after a couple of years you still don't like what he has done, you can run for President.
  • So give him some time
    @hondo
Yes, he's transparent. I am fixed upon the news. I think we can admit some level of decline with Joe. I certainly did not like all of Joe's policies. I find almost all of Trump's policies distasteful. He doesn't hide anything. For me, it will ever remain a point of consternation that the country elected a pervert felon. The entire environment has been infected. This is not the country it once was. This is not the USA which defeated the Nazis. These days, I'm reading in horror about Brown Shirt Hitlerian ICE tactics. (See what was done in Newark?) The Third Reich was built because people chose to ignore too much awful junk. "The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter." (Churchill.) More and more, voters refuse to think, or just don't care about the obvious evil. It disgusts me. I don't agree with every word from the Bishop at the National Cathedral the other day, either. But she's on target.
