The foreign tax withholdings are lost money in an IRA. ADR with foreign tax withholdings should be held in a taxable account. Canadian and UK stocks can be held in an IRA since they do not withhold taxes on dividends held in an tax deferred.
PFIX is now up 16.31 YTD. Glad that I ended up taking a small postion. The only other bond funds/ETFs that are working for me a little this year are RPIEX and CBON. Anyone else finding a bond fund/ETF working for 2022 YTD?
With what Lewis said, also check out this radio interview. The manager of BIVIX, Ali Mottamed, seems to know his stuff.

Yes, no load and no fee at Schwab. I just made an order. 1.42 ER is a higher than I like, but Smead has proved to me to be a manger worth the fee and a good investment. We shall see if the domestic success transfers to international as well.
I just recommended a friend of mine to swap her IICIX (my original pick last year) with FRFZX if she wants to make any money over the next year. BL/FR will likely do much better than Core/Core+ over the next year. IMHO FWIW. After interest rates s…
Yes I think it it is a good time to invest in China funds - TCELX is a newer fund but a good option. The fund mainly invests in companies in the bottom 50% of China's combined market cap (of which 98%+ are listed companies), rather than in the top …
Very interesting and informative. Not sure if I am investing in any of these ETF's at this point, too much like gambling. But DAPP looks to be the most interesting to me.
GME dropped 30.77% today and at 12/31/20 they owned .91%, probably higher % now after the crazy January - GME up over 1,000%. Hopefully they will sell out soon.
Agreed VAESX and WAEMX have high ER's. VAESX at 1.85 and WAEMX art 1.95 but their performance has been good. I prefer VAESX of the 2, M*5 vs M*4 for WAEMX.
So sorry to see Tiffany Hsiao is leaving Matthews Asia. She was the main reason I invested so much initially in MCSMX and then MSMLX. I would be very interested to hear where she goes/ends up.
@LewisBraham, what a difference a couple of months makes. Last time I looked MACGX was a 2 star fund by M* and now is 5 stars. Of course, FMIJX used to be 5 stars and now at 2 stars. MACGX is up 40% for the last month, but I will pass on invest…
Yes, SGGDX was my only equity fund up today +2.28%, YTD +18.11% and 1 YR + 63.60%. Very lucky I finally decided to invest in a Gold fund again after all these years.
Interesting, just for fun I checked M* rating of these stocks and:
5 are 1* - LW, RSG, ALL, NEE, & MKC
2 are 2* - IFF & DEO
3 are 3* - BAC, MDT, & FBHS
No 4 or 5*s in the bunch.
But then again what those M* know - I own NEE (rated 1*…
HJPNX and HJPSX are solid picks in this area. Also a cheaper exp ratio from the T Rowe Price fund - PRJPX. All 3 funds are rated 5 stars at M*. I own HJPSX.
I would sell but not based on the 10 year performance, which it did in fact beat the S&P 500. Not sure what Ted was looking at. Personally I like BIAWX for my LG exposure.
Nice 3 year run.

It will be interesting to see if it continues this out-performance. Never …
