I looked up GTSOX at Schwab, without logging in. They show the best and worse 3 month period for each fund. From 6/2/11-8/31/11 the fund lost 10.42% and the best gain was 13.38 starting in 10/11. So I'm not sure what MAXDD is measuring either.
Sold out of FDFAX in my Roth ira a few months ago;stunning underperformance for a Fidelity fund. VCSAX VDC RYCIX XLP all better choices for this industry sector. Redeployed sale assets into AUENX which until recently had a $2500 minimum for retirem…
After the last 2 weeks, have to agree with you on ETrade. They messed up the Pimco D share conversion two different ways, while the conversions at Fidelity and Schwab were seamless. I think I need to slowly start transitioning away from ETrade.
@msf I agree about the flexibility issue, and if Fidelity, Schwab and E-Trade all have shorter holding periods than TDA, then why let TDA limit your flexibility.
I had a TDA account but closed it due to customer service issues. TDA has a six-month holding period for mutual funds which is the longest of any of the brokerages I dealt with, and they charge $49.95 for transaction-fee mutual funds. They also were…
Which brokerages offer TSYYX and RUSIX as ntf funds? I've been using TRBUX and BBBMX which are ntf at a number of brokerages. Would like to use FPNIX but it has a tf at all the brokerages I've reviewed.
Unbelievable-2.25/3.75 loads on Pimco bond fund A shares?! If Scottrade had bought TD Ameritrade, and kept Scottrade terms I would have stayed at Scottrade. I'm just hoping TD Ameritrade doesn't buy E*Trade!
Actually, PIMCO funds NTF at Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard and E-Trade. Didn't check TD Ameritrade since I closed account due to poor customer service, 6 month holding period to avoid fees and $49.95 per trade for TF funds.
Not quite seamless at E-Trade, where Monday morning my portfolio had dropped by almost 10k. The D shares were showing a zero value, but the A shares showed up this morning.
Now both GABCX and GADVX are available with a tf at E-Trade with a 25 basis point difference in expense ratios. Still hoping GADVX will go back to a ntf fund as it was several years ago.
I have a Fidelity account and use their screener. You can set the parameters to include tf funds , and order the results by YTD, 1 Year , 3 Year etc returns and Standard Deviation as well. I think the screener is available to non-Fidelity account h…
The load-waived families at Schwab also include Delaware, Oppenheimer, MFS, First Eagle, Blackrock and others. Fidelity, TD Ameritrade E-Trade and IIRC Vanguard also participate to some extent as well. I hold MSFBX and SGENX among others.
I closed my account with Scottrade last summer after experiencing poor customer service with my previous TD Ameritrade account. I can buy tf mutual funds at E-Trade or Vanguard for a $20 fee, so I didn't see the need to keep the Scottrade account.
I've held OSTIX for a few years and I've been satisfied with its performance. OSTVX performance ,however, has been surprisingly disappointing, and I'm glad I passed on this fund. I've stuck with more reliable allocation funds like PRWCX FBALX VWELX …
I misread 2008 crisis as 2008 calendar year. The SGENX SGOVX allocation funds had maximum drawdowns of 32.6 and 32.1 respectively, even with their allocations to bonds and gold, so I would be curious to know which international/world funds better…
Also has a TF at Fidelity,Vanguard and E-Trade.It competes in the allocation category with funds like VWELX,PRWCX,FBALX,MBEAX,JABAX, etc which can all be bought NTF. So the TF status and expense ratio probably make it less attractive to investors.
AFAIK, VWELX is available for purchase only through Vanguard directly. When I opened my Vanguard account(after escaping Scottrade) VWELX was one of the first funds I purchased.
Not an alternative fund, but I've been happy with performance of AUENX in my retirement accounts compared to FDFAX or RYCIX. Unfortunately still has 1 million minimum for taxable accounts.
@hank-some clarification on TUHYX. I was concerned the fund might close in the future, and the fund previously wasn't available on numerous brokerage platforms, so I took a small position to reserve my spot. I see this fund as a substitute for PRHYX…
