Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
@gmarceau : By loaded up ,from your post, more than 5% of your portfolio ?
I bought a toe hold , less than 1% of my portfolio in GPGEX. It's nice to get in on the ground floor, but some worthy question have been ask about this new addition by the …
It’s been mainly value for me with a bit of growth just to participate and scratch the itch. 2020 was a fun ride for tech, but I left it in Sept and spent the majority of time in DODGX through my 401k and some other value based funds in a couple IRA…
Speaking of concentrated funds, looking for ARTNX to get available at Fidelity NTF.
Nothing too surprising with top holding for this one - Facebook, Google, Oracle, Anthem, Cognizant, Citi, Amex, but need something more value focused, so bought som…
Bought a lot of TGUSX and some AKRIX. Feels like this market will get frothier before it comes back to earth, but we aren’t at euphoria yet, so I’m just hanging in some high active share funds. ARTNX is supposed to launch soon, may start a position …
You’d think that after this, the Chinese would put a ban on consumption of bats, snakes, mice, etc etc etc. And who knows how many actual cases there are in Wuhan - there could be many more than what the government is willing to release. Cuomo won’t…
Akre’s fund works because he sticks to his strategy and no other manager invests like this with major positions in American Tower, Moodys, MasterCard, Visa, etc. The shame of it is that this used to be a mid cap fund, but it’s ballooned to over 12 b…
It’s a compelling fund, no doubt. I’m tempted to jump into Doubleline’s offering. If you look at the holdings in Morningstar, I just don’t know about these index swaps and what happens if we have some type of major bear triggered by whatever - Iran,…
David, I get the sector breakout. It’s the derivatives that no one can explain - they juice the returns a bit I imagine. I’ll go back to that Buffett quote, derivatives are financial weapons of mass destruction.
A thickhead query -- where are these data coming from?
I am scrutinizing MFOP and not seeing anything capture when you click a fund and get its individual sheet, and then when you compare three funds and side-scroll to capture metrics I see up cap…
rforno, that was post of the year.
Education starting in middle/high school would go a long way towards getting kids to have an understanding about investing. The other problem that’s been partially solved by more companies is automatically opting…
Not too surprised by the performance on this one if you look at its collective PE and the top holdings. One heck of a run for growth stocks these past 10 years.
Good find msf, really solid performance on this one especially when compared to DBLTX. Mark, exactly, looked on Doubleline's site - it's nowhere to be found, but maybe in the future as per the prospectus...
Good idea - POAGX is a not on NTF platforms in many brokerages.
Was it a good idea? No idea if this is sarcasm, but I’m sure we could find some more comparable funds without the transaction fee.
Jeez Jerry, never hurts to have a watchlist just in case they open up again. Its net outflows for most mutual fund shops nowadays so most of these funds will open up eventually.
Got into GPGCX after initially looking down on it. Why? Was looking for something more value based and wanted to be in a GP micro fund and I was underweight EM and international overall. GPGCX looks to be the best of both worlds.
I have really bee…
Lewis, give it a rest already. Your response to my initial post was absurd, literally absurd. Now you want to frame this that I’m inciting hate speech.
This sort of outing happens on either side of the aisle. My mistake was adding my thoughts arou…
Lewis I really have to wonder where you’re coming from here. I call bs on people pulling money from Fisher’s firm after knowing damn well what this man’s character is like and you go full on political assault. Really coming out of left field from yo…
Bunch of virtue signaling wimps...question: if he’s been saying this kind of bs for years, why does this type of reaction only happen now?
It’s everyone trying to show how much they care, the kind of crap that could only happen during a Trump presi…
Ted, you start so many posts on this board, lots of conversations never get a chance to get going. Why don’t we do the Ted section of the forums and you can update over there.
And can the rest of guys that run this place (I’m looking at you, Snowb…
Going global - VGWLX, VMVFX, and putting David Herro in an old 401k brokerage and trying to forget about it with OAKIX. Also testing the waters with BCSVX.
