Looking to buy CDC, PARWX and PRBLX but at lower levels in the market. CDC which Lynn Bolin has posted on is a really interesting value/defensive fund with very attractive risk/reward.
Hi Lynn,
Thanks so much for your articles that you've posted both here and at Seeking Alpha. Really appreciate it. You brought several funds to light that I was not aware of -- in particular IHDG and HEFA. I've also read David's article on Yackt…
Thanks @shadow. Ive often thought that the MSCI World index should be its benchmark as its international holdings are nearly 40%. The same is true of Fidelity Low Priced stock. Both are excellent funds
I've been gradually adding to a number of financials over the past few months including GS, JPM, WFC, and BAC. I consider these to be long term holdings though. I'm not planning on trading them. I've also added a position in AVUV -- a small cap v…
David, thanks so much for everything you have done to help inform us as investors. I have always looked forward to your monthly commentaries and from your insights. I also have greatly appreciated the undiscovered funds that you have brought to us…
Thanks very much for scheduling this Charles. I was just learning how to play around with the new features today. I like the pre-set screens you've added. Also the design is very intuitive. Thanks very much for all of your work on this Charles. …
Thanks for sharing @bee. I was listening to Dan Skelly of MS this morning on Bloomberg making a similar case. They see opportunities in large cap value instead of small cap value. I assume this is because small cap has moved so much since Novembe…
This is great Charles! Thanks very much. Very timely. Just ran some screens last night to look at which funds held up the best with the spike in interest rates over last month.
AVUV has strongly outperformed its benchmark over the past year and in shorter timeframes like 1 and 3 months. It is a new fund -- only has a one year track record.
@JonGaltIII. You are correct about FSMAX. It is a small/mid cap blend fund and in that category it actually is in the top 10% for performance. I hold the equivalent of this fund in my 401k and am very pleased with it.
Really clear and concise statement of his views on the market. A great read. I was particularly intrigued by his discussion on FISERV which I now want to consider as an investment. Does anyone know how many times a year PRWCX releases its full po…
the major difference is in portfolio construction. MFAPX is heavy in developed Europe -- at over 50% concentration. MIOPX is only 33% developed Europe and 35% in emerging markets (mainly developing Asia). MIOPX is riskier fund because of these al…
Great discussion here. I bought MATFX 2 weeks ago. I really like the manager of this fund, Michael J. Oh, who has been lead manager of the fund since 2006. He writes some great commentary pieces that lay out his thinking on stock selection and wh…
@MrRuffles. I have looked on the Paradigm website but there is very little info about Paradigm Select. Their performance is top notch on a risk adjusted and total performance basis but I wish they published a manager commentary so we could better …
Well as you can see from the posts youre holdings in China arent so out of the ordinary.... I have a similar Asian focused theme for international with holdings in FSEAX, MATFX, CHIQ...also hold MIOPX with a signif Asian concentration....
Thanks for providing @Mark. Yes IYG scores well. I was chatting with @Charles yesterday and he had a very helpful suggestion to look at the last time when rates were rising and which financial funds performed well. This was 2016-2018 and you can …
Hahaha! Good one @BenWP.... I have my share of stinkers too! Does someone have a good link to share on how taxes on CEFs differ from ETFs? Ben why do you prefer ETFs?
