Thanks very much for sharing this @Mark. I appreciate it. Yes he's over at Hennessy and has been for a number of years. Looks like his funds have done well. The only negative is that the expense ratio is 1.83%. Ouch!
@Mark and @sma3. Thanks for thoughts. Im very familiar with ARKF and its had great performance. But its more like a tech fund than a financial fund. Im looking at this as more a value driven investment vs growth. Admittedly financials havent do…
Im curious if any of the holdings are the same stocks that the Robinhood crew is chasing...Other small cap funds I track have been rallying this week because they do
Nope. Everyone is worried about variants of the virus in England and South Africa where the vaccine isn't nearly as efficacious in terms of treatment. South Africa is the bigger concern right now.
@msf thanks for sharing this. You are correct. I was looking at a fact sheet for the fidelity international version of Fidelity emerging asia which has 30% in financials. 2 different funds with the same name. FSEAX still has its growth focus. E…
here is an interview with the fund manager of FSEAX where he describes how he is rotating to value for 2021. Financials are now the largest sector in his portfolio. https://fundresearch.fidelity.com/mutual-funds/analysis/315910851?documentType=QAA
@BenWP yes that caught my eye too in the fund. They're sector exposure is also very interesting with strong weightings in consumer cyclical, financials, and industrials. So it is more value oriented. I havent bought it yet but watching it. Anoth…
Well Cathie Wood has done extremely well and she has increased assets in her fund to $45B from $2B just a year ago. She also takes on an inordinate amount of risk. So far that has played out very well but I doubt that will continue. At some point…
Thanks for sharing this @BenWP. I wasn't aware of this fund. Another one you might want to take a look at is Matthews Asia ESG. It has performed quite well over the past 1 and 3 years and has a nice balanced portfolio across sectors. A bit more…
Here are a couple that you can put in your pipe. I've invested in IJR which has done very well over the past year. Through my 401k I'm invested in the Dow Jones Total completion index which is a very nice small-mid cap index blend and has done wel…
@Benwp . thanks very much for providing info on the new fund and manager. The domestic version looks very interesting as large blend fund. By the way, since you are looking at more value oriented funds take a look at IAI which gives you nice expo…
Hey @newgirl. The way I have invested in EM is to take positions in MIOPX, FSEAX, and CHIQ. By its nature EM tends to be more volatile so its difficult to try to invest in it without taking on a fair amount of risk. MIOPX diversifies that risk be…
Hi Matt
I think its fine but you should understand that there will be significant overlap. Also, both are very much growth oriented funds so you should consider that if the market is moving more towards value as it has since November. As I mentio…
Hey @BenWP. How are you doing? Always love to see your posts. DSTX is a new one for me. What do you like about it? By the way I have been trimming growth and adding to financials the last week. I expect value to outperform over next year.
I hold MGGPX but actually have a larger position in MIOPX. Its a pure international fund with EM exposure. Also managed by Kristen. I think EM asia will continue to do well going forward. They are ahead of the entire world in managing the virus.…
Thanks @David for sharing this. Ive enjoyed your writeups on this fund over the last 5 years. A nice steady eddy consistent fund which is what I look for.
Yes this would be a total cluster if trump includes alibaba and tencent as most EM funds hold these stocks in large quantities. It has driven performance for many funds over the past few years. let's hope not. Still it will be up to Biden on whet…
Thx so much @lynnbolin2021 and @Charles. Very informative and I learned alot. Im going to study the charts a bit more and follow up with questions if thats ok.
While not small cap, I encourage you to take a look at FSEAX which is exclusively focused on Asia and has top 10% returns for the past 1, 3, 5, and 10 year time frames for both Asia Ex-Japan and also emerging markets overall. It is the most consist…
Hi @newgirl. Youve gotten some excellent suggestions. I'm more of a growth guy and am a big believer in the funds that @Benwp has suggested-- particularly MIOPX and MGGPX. Their long term track record consistently outperforms the competition by sev…
Hey @BenWP. Great to hear from you! thanks for your thoughts on this. Didn't see the large distributions. We need to catch up. I'm going to message you.
Take a look at MATFX. Its focus is on Asian companies who are all disruptors in their fields. If you check it on MFO PREMIUM you'll see strong consistent outperformance. The other benefit is it provides diversification through international expos…
Yes thats a good fund. You also should take a look st NUSC which has better long term performance but hasnt rallied as much in the last couple of weeks. Its an ESG fund. A little growthier. Nice consistency in this fund too.
Yes I was researching a number of small value and blend ets over the weekend. Just bought IJR yesterday. Small cap blend tends to outperform SPY significantly in early stages of a recovery.
Hey @newgirl . Yes thats also a great fund. A bit less volatile and also a bit less on the return side. This one doesnt have EM exposure. All devloped markets
MIOPX is a pure international fund managed by Kristin with strong exposure to emerging asian markets. Its my top international holding and a very consistent fund year to year. Take a look.
@BenWP Funny you mention that. Discussing same option with my wife. Our mortgage is at 2.625%. I still think there are opportunities to beat that rate through equity returns on long term basis. I recently added 2 new funds: Fidelty emerging as…
@Bee thanks for sharing this. I was just listening to a retail analyst discussing the upcoming holiday season. Interestingly she is expecting a strong one despite COVID because of product shortages which should ensure stronger margins.
Take a look at Fidelity Emerging asia. Provides exposure to China and other key Asian emerging markets like India but that is balanced out by holdings in Japan. The portfolio manager has a stong background as a technology analyst and thus both tec…
