@Ted Did you use POSTUS--President of Some of the United States--intentionally? Given the makeup of the Senate and the party-before-country hackery that exists there, I agree that there is zero chance for actual impeachment. Or rather, I should say there's zero chance of a Senate conviction. The House if I understand correctly can still impeach him and that is probable actually. Yet this is about whether the law matters at all anymore--or are certain people simply above it?--and what an investigation may reveal.
@Old_Joe - He’s way too busy linking to proof-read anything. It’s a wonder his Commodore 64 doesn’t overheat and experience a nervous breakdown.
I can’t see why impeachment would affect the markets much anyway. Big yawn so far. Valuations, corporate management, economic fundamentals should be much more important than politics.
As of this time, the house will impeach and the senate will not convict. Whether or not they will convict should have no bearing on the house impeachment proceedings.
The interesting thing about impeachment is that it goes to a different level of legal procedure (i.e. executive privilege is much reduced in an impeachment as compared to a border wall issue [read: Roberts will vote for disclosure]).
The issue is what will be revealed during the investigation and how will that impact the voters. Right now, Trumps chances of reelection are about two points lower than whale shit. However, in 14 months, "the horse may learn to sing".
Impact on the markets? feh. WTF cares. The fundamentals of investing will not change, just some of the nuances. I've been driving under a yellow flag since the Ides of November - I see no reason to change.
And to think that you can be a part of this on your streaming device.
But now, since late last week, this impeachment thing is finally serious. And finally, Nancy's on board, even leading the charge, after the Ukraine revelations. Was she just waiting for something that was so clear and unmistakable that the American public wouldn't NEED to have much explained to them about what happened? Because the average American voter has no attention span, has never been taught anything resembling Critical Thinking, and depends upon sensationalist boilerplate headlines to stay "informed?" Not to mention the dumbed-down standards in schools, which means that graduates matriculate with literally quite a bit less knowledge than previous generations? I personally know people who never even heard of the Electoral College, let alone the European Union... And there is an element of solid Trumpster supporters who will not be swayed, even if he should murder his own wife: https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/white-evangelicals-love-trump-aren-t-confused-about-why-no-ncna1046826
