Just have an asset allocation you can be comfortable with, no reason to get complicated.

Bank loan funds do better when rates are rising, which won't happen for awhile. But still provide decent yield and steady NAV. Maybe not worth buying now but a good hold.
That's why I have managed bond funds, not bond index funds. However, for long term investors, there are index funds that have performed well over long periods such as VBMFX, which is indexed to U.S. Aggregate, high credits and intermediate duration.
