This takes you to his daily commentary one year ago (in this case 12/7/2023). “Ask Fleck” on the left links to the Q&A section. Be aware that by agre…
I scanned Bill Fleckenstein’s site going back a few months and found no mention of this discovery. Lots of gold bugs there - some very well versed. So if it were a big deal I’d expect some comments. Bill has long been bullish gold - but I’m not…
This thread has migrated from the “Off Topic” section onto the big stage since I submitted my list of ”Best for…”. I’d like to note that the reference was only to the sources I currently subscribe to and not intended as an overview of all sources.

So good to hear from you @dtconroe. Was concerned about your absence. You have so much to offer when it comes to fixed income investing.

Thanks @FD. your earlier comments about car shopping were helpful. I recall you got a dealer to put a substantial amount on a credit card. I tried that trick. But they cited a $2,000 cap. But with nearly a year left on my 0% Fido Signature card, the…
@Old_Joe - You beat me to the punch! Was going ot post this. Well, nice gesture by Hegseth. I like that. Wish him well in sobriety.
OTOH - Please remove my name from consideration for the position … :)
I've never thought of Motley Fool as an investment house. I always thought of it as an entertainment site that makes money through advertising. Even their stock recommendations seem to be subpar.

- Tires not a big deal. I’d surely have purchased winter tires next season. Cars need to be able to stop as well as go. Why not have the best possible grip on the road?

Hope not too far removed. There were numerous sellers up and down the sidewalks of Times Square when I visited NYC a few weeks ago with stacks and stacks of unopened Apple products for sale at 50% or more off. I use mostly Apple products and know w…
Thanks for the suggestions folks. I’ve always had separate winter & summer rims + wheels and generally changed them out myself with a floor jack. But these 19” look like more then I want to deal with. Try lifting a 40-50 lb rim + tire combo i…
FD confirms everything I could dig up. But if you want an expensive show-boat BMW seems to stand out for quality among the Europeans. VW’s got issues. The JD Powers list I posted was a “one-off” uncovered during extensive research. Interesting, b…
But why do we need laws? Doesn’t “individual freedom” mean not having to kowtow to rules from outside authority? If I don’t want to pay taxes on a profitable investment or store my firearms in a childproof safe … Or if I decide to screw somebod…
As well to you, too !!! And all here, too.
@hank will likely have his snow blower in action before the weekend is finished.

You might take a look at CMRGX which is about a year old. Not a recommendation. I have long invested in some of Calamos’ other funds. Generally they are a bit risk averse if that’s what you want. Won’t outperform in good markets.
Somebody needs to send a copy of this “Reduce Growth Significantly By Being Out Of The Market” thread to Warren Buffett.

Interesting chart Yogi. Thanks. I remain to be sold on the relative merits when considering actively managed funds. Agree that for index investing etfs are a no-brainer. When you have at least a 10-year time frame (preferably longer) to compare …
FWIW - I’ve checked around at various dealers across the state. There seems to be a genuine shortage of anything foreign branded - sedans anyway. If you want much choice in colors or features good luck! I’m thinking that many are rushing to beat…
I’ve done a full circle since moving from TRP’s in-house funds to a Fido brokerage. The freedom to own etfs, CEFs & stocks felt great for 2 or 3 years. But the gyrations during the day drove me crazy - though I realize you’re not supposed to lo…
Scary. I haven’t yet figured out how to scan anything with my phone. In this case, at least, ignorance is bliss.

Well, up here in northern Michigan we rely on imported veggies and tomatos (technically a fruit) from south of the border in winter. A frozen wasteland here. Now a 25% tariff aimed at we salad eaters? RFK - I thought your plan was to improve our …
@hank, fwiw, a guy at work is looking at the Lexus ES 350 ultra luxury car. Beautiful car in the pics he showed. Lexus, of course, is the up-scale Toyota brand.
Thanks Mike

1. Yes, the Camry seats are powered. So to an extent it is possible to recline. Suggest you test one out. Seats are complicated.

@hank: Consumers Reports has never been high on Audi reliability, so it might be worth your time to check there. My PCP has been happy with two Audi A5 convertibles, however.

@Hank: "cut and run." That's not the case exactly. It's look at the data and decide where I think $ is best deployed, and in this case, it was "sell and redeploy."
Agree. Sounds a lot smoother. I’ve edited my previous post to reflect a more sophisti…
But if you look at the actual number of reported problems, the actual difference doesn’t seem too large …

Thanks for the thoughts (and the bump) @msf. You bring back memories of my days in Strong Funds. Long time ago. Yes, the Advantage fund (which I too owned) was popular for many years. But eventually suffered a “hit.”

Well, that thread initiated by @Junkster in September (”BlackRock’s Rick Rieder on the Golden Age of fixed income”) which @msf relinked above is a beauty. Afraid I was napping during portions of it. It does drift around a bit, but has some great s…
