  • Thanks, @msf. I did not realize you replied until now when I looked for your earlier post on this topic. Sorry for not acknowledging your reply sooner.

  • Any insights from this week’s wealth track or is it good?

  • Hi @Derf, No. I did mean to include the NOT. I edited sentence to make it a conditional sentence, hoping that might make it easier to comprehend without tripping over the NOT.

  • Just updating - M* indicates no investment from managers. The fund launched with $2M AUM and currently has $2.7M AUM. The M* chart since inception looks acceptable performance for this fund. The Sept fact sheet is here - https://www.williambla…
  • Thanks for the detailed post @msf. I had been misinformed that brokerages were required to calculate and distribute RMDs, unless the account owner instructs not to do so. What you have clarified is that the primary responsibility rests with the ac…

  • Requoting from @hank's post - "The options market, which enables investors to magnify their stock bets at relatively low cost, has seen daily trading volumes rise to about 40 million contracts a day, up from maybe a million in 2000.” Thought wort…
  • Thanks, @Derf. I will count TD (soon to be Schwab) as allowing. I hope somebody with Fidelity experience will share as well.

  • I read on one of the treads that those that started buying dips at the market top in 1929 did not see the bottom until 1932 and that the 1929 top was not seen again until 1952/3. Why compare the current equity market to the 1920s market? What are …
  • @msf, "[Y]ou can use the same automatic investment mechanism that people use to buy TF funds for a $5 fee. If you use this to buy a Fidelity fund, then regardless of the amount, the transaction doesn't count as part of a round trip." Since Fideli…

  • With funds holding excessive %age of cash equivalents, we are paying them to hold cash which is far worse than neighborhood bank branches paying near zero interest on savings account.

  • Yes-and you can sell amounts of Fidelity funds under 10k within 60 days without incurring early redemption transaction fees. Which brokerage are you referring for the above. At Fidelity, it’s own funds have a 30 day holding requirement, a violatio…

  • From Wikipedia - In 1991 Buckley joined Vanguard as an assistant to company founder John C. Bogle. From 2001 to 2006 Buckley was Chief Information Officer, and from 2006 to 2012 he was head of the Retail Investor Group. He became Chief Investment Of…
  • Expect continued layoffs from TD payroll. Schwab took the opportunity to close a lot of TD branches.
  • @Jim0445, This past Friday one of their traders read to me their internal communication which suggests the current target date is between April 2023 and October 2023. So, your $15 commission should be good at least until then. BTW, your rate was …
  • Thanks for posting. Motley Fool has many paid subscription equity newsletters, which I never subscribed to, though I know people that do. I did not know they have mutual funds. Not sure if the buy and sell recommendation through those subscriptio…

  • @David - There is a separate pinned thread with a similar title. How do we make sure that all 2021 cap gain information starting September 2021 (when the pinned thread started) will only be posted in the pinned thread? Thanks.
  • Thanks, @Charles, for the excellent reporting and thanks for posting Ken's interview.
  • Event based markets are difficult to bet on, especially when the event is 2 weeks away. Small and micro caps are in red today. So, it is not full on risk, notwithstanding a decent up day in large cap averages.
  • Amazingly, Grantham in the article says a 10% or more SPY drop is coming in the coming months. 10% or more is not news when it comes from Grantham. That is like Grantham’s breath. Sort of deflates the rest of the decent article.
  • "No such principled action [to resign] from the seven members of Congress – a rare, bipartisan group of four Democrats and three Republicans – who made hundreds of unreported financial trades despite (or perhaps because of?) the fact that five of th…
  • @Stillers, Thanks. Sorry you feel you are getting bashed at MFO - I did not notice but I do not have the history. Just as an FYI - If I ask you a question, it is seeking info but not to bash or challenge. Nobody is obligated to answer. It is new…
  • @Stillers: "Friday was a pretty important day in which the Dip/Diplet appears (to me and the people I read/follow) to have abated. At least for the time being that is, and stopping a potential gusher after you've rolled the dice a bit is always an u…
  • Their charts seem less reliable lately and I always have to compare them to Stockcharts if SC recognizes the symbol. The difficulty is M* charts do not seem to correct their faulty data later and carries the errors. E.g., For PSPTX., M* shows a 3…
  • The three major US equity indices futures are up right now - up about 0.60%. These indices also closed higher today in the aftermarket session, though not as much reflected in the futures. May be the diplet buyers and dippers have decided not to l…
  • Good observation @bee. Not too many people pay attention and devote time to the complex topic of risk, starting with the basics of defining what risk means to them.
  • @Derf, Thanks for starting the thread. Great idea. I am looking to hear about investors’ sell strategies / sell criteria. Seems like buying strategies fit nicely into certain patterns that are replicable and I am hoping selling strategies do as w…
  • The market closed lower into the Close which is about 5% lower from peak for the SPY. I guess DBs (Diplet buyers) may have decided to hand off the buying responsibility to the Dippers (BTD buyers). Joking aside, is it possible the relentless DBi…
  • Thanks, Observant1. Those would be my reasons as well, except 4. Most of the Buy strategies I read about have an element of Price or are Price based. I would like to hear about Sell strategies that are Price based too. For example, no more than …
  • The Fed has designated blackout periods and a no buy list. These guys did not violate any of those. I have not looked at their filings to see if the hype in the media was warranted or it was just an outrage in pursuit of click baits. To be clear,…
  • My definitions for market draw downs - probably correspond to most people’s 0-5% diplet 5-10% dip 10-20% correction >20% bear market +/- a couple of decimals.
  • Very good discussion in this thread. Over time, I have read about a lot of buying strategies. E.g., DCA, BTD, etc. But I have never read an exit strategy. I think this is a secret sauce people do not share. I hope folks in this forum share thei…
  • Only when the market falls by 5% and if I think the market is overreacting, I used to start getting interested in adding. If the draw down continues to 6-7% or more, I used to start buying. My last buy the dip was a measly 3% increase in equities …
  • @Stillers, Are you ruling out a US stock market correction? If not, what would be the reason for the next correction and when? Seems like the long list of things you mentioned are going to be there for years.
  • There must be some phenomenon market pundits have not been able to explain that is causing an overriding sentiment to keep the market in an upward trajectory and they are describing the symptom (BTD) as the cause. We have not really had any meaning…
  • @msf, If you drew a conclusion from your research about prospects for equity investors in utilities sector in a potential future inflationary period, please share / restate. Thanks.
  • Smarter energy producers (e.g., CVX) have already taken measures to reduce their production emissions.
  • @Mav123, Did Utilities suffer between 1968 and 1981?
