Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
The former POTUS is very Machiavellian and he'll attempt to take advantage of the situation.
He often likes to portray himself as the victim.
I find it incomprehensible and disturbing that so many people either believe this bullshit
or help propagat…
Does anyone think that Garland wouldn't have risked this search or raid if he wasn't 1K% positive of the results? I'm also curious to know why Trump didn't object to releasing the search warrant contents.
I was wondering the same thing.

What is the significance of a new high for the S&P 500's cumulative A/D line?
Historically, has this proven to be a reliable indicator of future performance?
Bringing this discussion back up for everyone. I would really value hearing what everyone's favorite small cap funds are. WAMCX was my primary holding in small cap for several years but it got crushed in the market selloff over the last year. I'…
This is my fear as well.
Many supporters of former POTUS believe the "Big Lie" and think this FBI investigation was politically motivated.
Alarmingly, some supporters are extremely violent and present a clear and present danger to society.
The charting feature now seems to have been restored to its former functionality: it's possible to set custom dates, compare funds / ETFs / stocks.
I haven't checked this yet, but I'm shocked that M* actually restored chart functionality.

This guy previously stated that taking the Fifth amendment was practically an admission of wrongdoing.
Here's what he said during the 2016 presidential campaign:

The former POTUS has a long history of evading responsibility for his actions.
He is the true "Teflon Don."
With several concurrent investigations underway, his luck may be changing.
"Didn’t bother listening to somniferous Larry."
Funny you should mention this.
This is not intended as a slight against Mr. Summers, but while watching
the past few Wall Street Week episodes I dozed off during his segments.
I probably should get s…
Mr. Rattner believes markets are overly optimistic about how much the Fed will need to hike rates.
He contends rates will have to increase substantially since the embedded rate of inflation is 4% - 5%.
He is currently fairly bearish on stocks.
Good post. The longer you check, and I'm talking about at least 20-30 years, a cheap index such as the SP500 beats most stock funds.
The SP500 is based on the best indicator, the price. The price never lies, regardless of any opinion.
The SP500 is g…
High active share was once touted as a desirable attribute for actively-managed funds.
Some people claimed that funds with high active share would outperform.
Alas, this has not occurred largely for U.S. equities over the past decade or so.

Jerome Powell recently stated that the current 2.25% - 2.50% Fed Funds Rate is neutral.
The Fed's preferred measure of inflation is the PCE Price Index.
Year over year, PCE prices increased 6.3% for the period ending in May (latest available stats).…

@Observant1 - Thanks for posting. Changes hadn’t yet been implemented far as I could tell when I checked the December 2021 report a while back. (But was aware of the S&P short position.)

@Crash,
My information source is the DODBX Fund Report published by M* on 06/16/2022.
A new balanced fund committee took over management of DODBX in May 2022.
This committee began as a working group following the fund's steep losses during the 20…

Trump fund raising for the pretext of fighting alleged election fraud but not actually using most of the funds for said fraud was fully legal because the fund raise page stated this in the fine print. It's amazing how much one can legall…
@yogibearbull,
Thanks for your reply.
Stable-value funds are low-risk but they are not entirely risk-free.
I consider them to fall somewhere in between money market funds and shorter-term bond funds.
Insurance company stable-value funds own the un…
Broadly speaking, there are two types of stable-value funds.
The first type has transparent fees, its underlying assets are owned by participating retirement plans,
and contractural guarantees are diversified across multiple issuers.
The second type…
I agree that creativity is great and often benefits society as a whole.
However, I do not condone the fundraising efforts of the former POTUS.
I believe it's immoral to request funds for a specific purpose and later pocket much of the money.

Multiple managers departed from WWIAX in 2019 before Adrian Helfert took the helm.
Four others joined the fund team with or after Mr. Helfert.

Maybe it will be worth checking out the Seafarer website for the posted info. I owned the original Seafarer fund, years ago. I was disappointed by it after some years, and moved out of it.
I also owned SIGIX several years ago.

If a stock is purchased in a taxable account, the dividend will be fully taxed even if the stock was held for only a few days. Thus, it's usually preferable to not "buy the dividend" in taxable accounts.
@hank,
Thanks for the summary!
Several sources stated that overall earnings estimates are too high and need to be adjusted downward.
It will be interesting to see what actually transpires after 2022 quarterly earnings reports are released.
There are no hard and fast rules for minimum and maximum fund positions.
I agree with much of the info stated in the prior posts.
It's more important to focus on risk and diversification.
An investor can achieve good results owning only a target-dat…
Thanks BaluBalu.

Thanks, msf.
I wonder why Vanguard didn't create a new $100M minimum share class and then convert shares.
This would have saved some retail investors a lot of grief!
