AWS (highly touted by Mr. Giroux on CNBC yesterday) has been down much of the afternoon and no idea when it will be fixed. M* tracker is down (at last check) as a result of the AWS snafu.

What an excruciating experience!
This could have been a real disaster for someone who wasn't as engaged or knowledgable as you.
I'm glad it worked out in the end.

Preliminary reports suggest the Omicron variant is much more transmissable.
Outcomes for infected individuals are generally less severe when a variant spreads rapidly.
There are still many unknowns regarding Omicron.

My last tire purchase (several years ago) was at Costco.
Costco has a much smaller selection of tires since they only sell a few different brands.

They were often owned by hunters, fishermen, boaters, etc.
These SUVs were rugged, functional vehicles with very few amenities.

Wood has fervent followers and strong detractors. After reaching dizzying heights the fund has slumped this year. I’m wondering how she can run an open end fund in this manner. ISTM money will flee in bad times causing all sorts of problems for ma…

@fred495,
Thanks for the link.
The article provides important information regarding the fund's strategy and its upside/downside ratios.
Since many alternative funds have complex strategies and high costs, I avoid this category.
Two of my bond funds, DODIX and VUSFX, gained 0.42% and 0.05 % respectively.
All my other holdings were down for the day.
The biggest losers were VTMSX and IVOO which lost 3.xx%.
Today was a shortened trading day with potentially lower liquidity.

Scientists are concerned both by the number of genetic mutations in the critical spike protein, an area that most vaccines target, as well as its apparently rapid spread.
Data regarding the B.1.1.529 variant (named Omicron) is still scarce.

I agree that the Russell 2000 should be avoided.
For small-cap indexes, I prefer the S&P 600.
S&P stock selection criteria introduces a slight quality tilt which helps investors avoid the "junkiest" small stocks.
I believe it makes sense to have some small-cap exposure.
If the volatility of a dedicated small-cap fund is worrisome,
you may want to consider funds which invest in a spectrum of different-sized companies.
My only small-cap fund is VTMSX and it co…

Do you have to sell the Roth because your Vanguard holdings are unavailable at TRP?
If so, you may want to consider exchanging your Vanguard holdings for ones which are available at TRP prior to the transfer.
This should enable in-kind transfers of…
Mr. Grantham's investments are quite aggressive despite his gloomy market predictions.

Peter Lynch was one of the most renowned star managers.
He was a pretty good author as well! ;)
I liked that he didn't overstay his welcome and risk slipping into mediocrity like so many other fund managers.

While some "experts" claim inflation is transitory (whatever that means), I'm not so sure.

$250k seems to be lot of dough for the privilege of getting TRP’s closed funds.
As you know, Vanguard investors need $1M (Flagship status) to access certain closed Vanguard funds.
@BenWP,
I'm glad you found the PV chart helpful.
PV Analysis Results allow users to easily compare important metrics (CAGR, max. drawdown, Sortino, etc.).
I've found PV to be very useful during the fund evaluation process.
Ms. Lazar definitely thinks outside the box.
Her capex and inflation projections surprised me.
Time will tell whether this comes to fruition, but her thesis is thought-provoking nonetheless.
In the Foreign Large Blend category, I like SCIEX and MIEIX*.
The SCIEX management team also manages 30% of VWILX.
MIEIX has below average costs, low turnover, and usually provides good downside protection.
Mr. Ling started managing MIEIX on 10/01/2…
I don't care if an active fund tracks an index on the upside, but I do care if it tracks an index on the downside. The SPY lost like 38% in the GFC while PRBLX was down only 22. I'll take positioning & performance like that anyday.
