Lynn,
Thank you so much. I am planning on a 3-year ladder since I am a year away from retirement. Lots of spreadsheet work to calculate the income replacement needed. This ladder will create a steady income stream. So thank you for all your help.
I moved back to high quality bond funds this year. Some of which you covered in the SA article. For now, I will stay with agency bonds to the bond ladder. I will pick active managers for corporate bonds.

@msf, I have been most successful talking with live Fidelity representatives in early morning (before 7 am EST) or after business hours (5 pm). Their secured messaging is slow and appears to be AI generated. My D&C question took over a week t…
Concur that USFR is ahead of TFLO in 3 and 5 years performance in terms of Martin ratio while having similar risk (MAXDD %). Yields are 3.8 and 4.3%, respectively. Search is performed using MFO Premium.

Thank you for your summary that is just as informative. A gradual shift to intermediate term bonds over 3-6 months would work as well. Still prefer active managed core bond funds. US dollar has been falling so oversea bonds are attractive too.
I talked with Fidelity representative more than once about this topic and the issue remained. D&C funds are sold on their TF platform but they are not listed under their Mutual Fund tab.
This happens to funds that are undergo registration cha…
The recession debate is ongoing since conflicting economic data are posted on regular basis. Inflation is slowing but it is far from the 2% Fed target. Tight labor market (service cost), increased manufacturing (GDP) and consumer spending are counte…

@Old_Joe, thanks for compiling the info. The indictment is significant since it occurred at the state level. Unlike other indictments charged at federal level, this case will continue well beyond 2024 election. And there is no escape! Charge #1 …
Took profit from stocks and gold several weeks ago and now adding to bonds including RiverPark Strategic Income, institutional shares, RSIIX, and short term T bills.
My deepest condolences to those who perished and suffered great loss. It is on my plan to visit these beautiful places. Just cannot believe the photos from the aftermath.
Lowering from $50k to $5k is indeed very good news for retail investors. CrossBridge funds are on transaction fee fund platform at many brokerages. Fidelity customers can use their automatic investment features for additional purchases for $5; no f…
@yogibb said,
While Moody's rates credit unions, I haven't seen reports of similar downgrades.
Credit unions have simpler models - take deposits, offer CDs, provide auto and home leans, park excess in Treasuries. They don't have CRE exposures. The…
Thanks for the info. We bought some 12 months T bill this week as other T bills matured. Yields are rising after Fitch’s downgrade of US Treasuries. For taxable account we prefer T bills due to the state tax exemption. Otherwise, brokered CDs are …
Thursday’s futures market is up a bit.

Think we will enjoy more of the beach than the stock market.
Addition: Thursday morning, both US and oversea futures market drifted downward.
Think it was premature to say that US may not enter a mild recession, i.e. soft landing. It is a question of when and how severe the recession will be. Many conflicting data right now with the tight labor market, low unemployment rate, falling CPI, …
Thanks @yogibb for your perspective. Today all stock and bond indexes are down. We will see how this plays out in light of a number of good economic data. Now the earning reporting is upon us.
In August, 2011, S&P downgraded US treasury and the stock market tumbled. Will it be differ this time?

Addition to being tax-exempt for federal tax, state-specific muni funds are also exempt from state tax too. For those who are in high tax brackets and living in states with high state tax, they would most benefit after taxation. The “double” exemp…
How time has changed with American funds. By the time we invested with American, the R6 (retirement accounts) were available - no load and no 12-b-1 fees. AF has served us well especially during drawdowns. Today, we moved to their newly created ETF…
There are other bears besides Mike Wilson. It is a matter of timing if and when the recession arrives. For now the strong labor market indicates the market is more resilent than anticipated.
Think you meant CGGO, Capital Global Growth Equity; a sold global growth fund. The domestic version is CGUS. I bought CGUS and CGDV when they became available a year ago. Also looking at CGMS, a multi-sector bond fund.
