Private individual investor who runs his extended family's portfolio of
funds, stocks and ETFs. I visit MFO to discover & research US, G20, and
EM/frontier small cap stock funds run by established small firms
who invest their own funds with their fund shareholders.....
In Q1 & Q2 2017 adding to European small cap stock exposure.
Would any fellow MFO fund investor have any recommendations
for the following.......
a) commodity fund
b) relatively evenly balanced commodity exposure (not energy heavy)

Never underestimate the impact of currency translations on a portfolio of
international stocks, if the investor wants to add alpha with international
exposure.
IMO ''diversification'' in not a reason to invest in non-US stocks.

Seems like Paul Wick is very tech hardware/infrastructure heavy in his picks......
The big alpha has been made in he ad mobile media tech segment in recent
years. Is the tech evolution passing this experienced 54 year old manager..?
Looking at these 2 funds portfolio composition shows these are different
asian debt funds
MAINX is 50 % corporate debt, 35 % govt debt
24 % of the debt is rated A to BBB-
60 % is exposed to the US dollar

Maybe the ER will be high .......but IMO not a hurdle.
EM/Frontier funds that consistently post top 1quartile total
returns are worth the exp cost.......active EM/Frontier fund
mgmt IMO can provide real alpha as compared to an index.

I have seen several biotech manias in my investing career......
They seem to last several years, both wildly up and morbidly

marketing......sure Fidelity is the bounty paying winner, but I would
bet there is some fairly significant "fine print" involved in getting/taking

IMO, the S&P 500 is fully valued, but earnings forecasts are currently
being revised downward.........so I am thinking the S&P 500 is ready
for its usual 3 to 5 % re-tracement back to its 100 day moving average....
