@Old_Skeet would you mind giving us just a quick numerical update on the barometer? I imagine with the drop this week we are way less overbought. No need to do the full length description which I know is time consuming for you.
@msf. Thanks very much for making me aware of a new set of funds to research. Particularly the Grandeur Peaks one. That one has held up better than all of the other ones in the family that have had a few disappointing years. I always appreciate …
@old_Skeet thanks very much for your update. Always great to review your market barometer. With the Fed sitting tight and the stong possibility of a trade deal it feels like this rally has more legs to go
@Graust. thanks very much for sharing. I use these types of funds on the domestic side for helping balance out and lower the overall risk from some of my growth oriented funds. I need to review these to see if that makes sense internationally als…
@Ted. thanks for sharing this. SDY is also a great fund that follows this strategy with a long track record. Are you aware of strong funds with international holdings that follow same strategy?
@Old_Skeet. Thank you. Yes i think thats true for my international funds too across the board. Ive been waiting for a selloff to initiate a numbet of positions. International and EM are still cheap however even with the moves since Dec 24th. I …
Thanks very much for sharing yourr thought processes on this @Old_Skeet. Very helpful to me in thinking about the market. Do your inputs focus on the S&P 500 exclusively? Do you look at international at all?
@msf thanks for sharing that. I'm aiming for about 20% international myself which could be too low. I also have significant positions in microsoft and american express on the multinational side. But all my new buys are in funds.
@oldskeet top oerformers for me were Grandeur Peak Global reach at 1.35% and Granduer peak emerging markets at 2.07%. Both small positions right now. I'm getting ready to add a number of new positions.
Would you mind giving us a market baromete…
thanks very much @davidrmoran . I'm looking at balancing my portolio in the following way. Purchasing:
US large cap growth -- TRBCX
US large cap core -- PRDGX
Global large cap growth -- MGGIX
International small/mid cap -- ARTJX
and pondering po…
@msf thanks for researching this. I have to admit that I'm really not up to speed on how foreign tax credits affect taxes that we pay on the funds. How big an impact would this have on global vs. international fund? Over the past 3 years, global …
@slick. Yeah frustrating waiting for those dips huh! If you have a link to that article I'd be interested in seeing it. So many different views on how to DCA.
@davidrmoran. Yes i recall your discussion of that. You have alot in DSENX as I recall for your US equity position. Great fund. Just worry about during downturns.
@Ted. Thanks for the feedback. Yes MSOPX has a higher % dedicated to EM. A bit higher risk because of that but a good way to get exposure to EM. I'm still debating which of Kristian's funds to buy. Global or one of the internationals. All good…
@slick. Congrats! I just came on this fund recently from Charles MFO webinar with Brad Ferguson. How many months are you going to take to fully build your position? Im assuming your DCAing per month? Trying to figure out my planned timing for …
Hi @Investor,
The reason Im looking at ARTJX is they recently had a manager change and the new manager-- Rezo Kanovich has an outstanding record of outperformance vs peers at OSMAX. Really interesting foreign fund focused on the small mid cap spac…
@BenWP
Thanks for the feedback. Yes MGGPX is an outstanding fund with even longer track record. Im also considering that one although I have little international expsure right now and am trying to address that gap in portfolio. One nice aspect to…
Hey @MSF, thanks for the heads up that HNASX is managed by the same manager as TRLGX. I've been interested in the TRLGX but it has a $1M minimum. Looking to invest in either AKREX, TRBCX, BIAWX or this one for my large cap growth exposure. Any t…
emerging markets have been tough on the downside for the past couple of years. NEWFX takes a fairly conservative approach in that they invest in companies from developed markets that do alot of business in EM countries as well as purchasing EM secu…
@old_skeet thanks for sharing your thought process on selection of hybrid funds. I always enjoy your posts. Your approach is different from mine but i always learn.
