@Charles and @Junkster . thanks very much for posting on IOFIX. I always value your thoughts on this fund. I saw big move up and wondered why when the overall bond market sold off a bit on Tuesday. Just curious if you would be adding to this fun…
I reduced my equity position to 45% of holdings last week. This is more of a tactical move for now. Will be looking to increase this back gradually as the market goes down (assuming it continues).
Yes eliminating the ability to compare funds as well as the purchase tab made it pretty worthless. So now I have to go to the fund website to see where I can purchase.. that's nuts.
It looks like they've eliminated the ability to compare multiple funds against each other which used to be under "performance"... Please tell me if I'm wrong. I have to say that its a pretty worthless product from what I'm seeing now. And I've be…
@TheShadow thanks very much for sharing this information. That's a pretty unique arrangement and very smart of you to pick up on the opportunity. I'm curious what attracted you to the fund and what role it will play in your portfolio. From MFO …
@Old_Skeet
Hi there.. thanks so much for posting. I was thinking of asking you yesterday to post your barometer but thought Id wait a few more days in case we suffer additional losses. Im a bit surprised with the 160 reading when we are still so …
Thanks @Crash and @Junkster for sharing your current holdings. Junkster it sounds like IOFIX is a long term holding for you and not one that you trade in and out of. I'm about 10 years away from retirement so am 70% equities and about 30% in money…
Thanks for sharing @Junkster. As I recall IOFIX is your major bond fund position currently. Are you also invested in an international bond fund? I'm trying to decide whether to establish a holding in international.
Hi @Crash
Yes a good fund. I track it too...can you please remind me what international bond fund you are invested in. I believe it is with T. Rowe. Thx
Wow this was a shock to hear. I was just messaging with Deb a couple of weeks ago. She was so incredibly generous with her time and patient with her advice. I always enjoyed talking with Deb through the board. What a wonderful woman...... I will…
BIAWX is a great choice. Read Davids review this month. I also like HNASX which is managed by T Rowe Price. Both have strong long term performance and held up well last Fall. For small cap, take a look at WAMCX.
@David_Snowball enjoyed your analysis of BAFWX. Thank you. In the article you mention that:
" With an 18.0% lifetime APR, BAFWX is an MFO Great Owl in the multicap growth category. That means it has consistently received a return rank of 5 (Best)…
@MikeM Yes if you can share the fund symbol on that money market fund that would be great. I’m looking to park some cash in a fund at Schwab with a good rate.
@Old_Skeet would you mind giving us just a quick numerical update on the barometer? I imagine with the drop this week we are way less overbought. No need to do the full length description which I know is time consuming for you.
@msf. Thanks very much for making me aware of a new set of funds to research. Particularly the Grandeur Peaks one. That one has held up better than all of the other ones in the family that have had a few disappointing years. I always appreciate …
@old_Skeet thanks very much for your update. Always great to review your market barometer. With the Fed sitting tight and the stong possibility of a trade deal it feels like this rally has more legs to go
@Graust. thanks very much for sharing. I use these types of funds on the domestic side for helping balance out and lower the overall risk from some of my growth oriented funds. I need to review these to see if that makes sense internationally als…
@Ted. thanks for sharing this. SDY is also a great fund that follows this strategy with a long track record. Are you aware of strong funds with international holdings that follow same strategy?
@Old_Skeet. Thank you. Yes i think thats true for my international funds too across the board. Ive been waiting for a selloff to initiate a numbet of positions. International and EM are still cheap however even with the moves since Dec 24th. I …
