Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
@Old_Joe Right now the Napoleon hat is being paraded through the street's for my subjects to see, so I'm forced to wear my crown. It's a tough job but someone has to do it. Regards, Ted
Note: I arise at 6am EST everyday. I do two things firstly. First, is a very large cup of hot coffee while the pc boots; then secondly, signin to MFO. A very nice method to start my day.
I just noticed that we now have the option to either "mark all viewed" or "mark category viewed". That's just great! I was wishing for such an option, and it appeared as if by magic. Now I'm gonna try wishing for some other stuff and see what happens...

if you have more feature requests or changes, post your suggestions in the Technical Questions category, then Chip will let me know if David wants the change, and I can try to make it happen when they request it.
By the way catch22, some advise. Get a SSD for your device. Mine use to take over 2 minutes to boot. Now it is 5 seconds.
@Maurice, is this with your computer on standby or 'sleep' for the night......or turned off? If you can turn the power on and have it boot in 5 seconds.....that's an amazing thing. Still very fast to boot from standby/sleep/hibernate or whatever in 5 seconds.
@Accipiter: The stuff I was wishing for you and David ain't gonna be no help with, I'm afraid. This is a family posting site, after all...
@rjb112: If you are in the "Fund Discussions" category, you can mark all of those posts as read; if you're in the "Off-Topic" category, you can mark just those as read. I'd swear that wasn't there yesterday- I think that Accipiter is doing magic stuff in the background...

@Old_Joe, still not clear on it...I've not clicked either of those. Does something come up and then after you read each post, you mark that you read it? Then on your view it will always show that you already read that post?
@rjb112: Normally, each post that you have not read is highlighted with a small yellow "New" flag. As you select and read a particular post, that flag disappears.
Use of the "Mark as read" commands will simply extinguish all of the yellow "New" indicators, for either the "Fund Discussion" or "Off-Topic" categories. The "Mark All as Viewed" command will do the same, but universally, for all categories.
Note that after you have used those commands, if someone posts a new post, or adds a comment to an existing post, the "New" flag will once again appear to inform you that something new has been added.

It seems like this is something that could stay around for week so anybody that visits once a week will get to see it.

Thank you very much.
