Trump’s Stupidest Cabinet Member?

"Pete Hegseth’s job is so far over his head that he can’t even see it. He evidently believes it’s to cheerlead and defend Trump with bonkers claims like 'We didn't start this war, but under President Trump we’re finishing it” and “America is winning decisively, devastatingly, and without mercy' and 'we will show no quarter for our enemies.' ('No quarter' means kill everyone and take no prisoners, which is a war crime.)"

"In the days leading up to the U.S. attack on Iran, Hegseth spent his time criticizing 'wokeness' at American universities, feuding with Anthropic over safeguards for AI, and, in the day before the war began, forcing Scouting America to abandon programs aimed at promoting diversity."

"He dismisses war crimes, pooh-poohs the rules of engagement, and projects unequivocal belligerence at a time when the United States is rapidly losing whatever moral standing it had in the world."

"Granted, it’s difficult to select one of Trump’s Cabinet members as the stupidest.
But Pete Hegseth stands out for sheer boneheaded ignorance."

  • no argument here.
  • Sounds right. I like to give credit where it's deserved.
  • Man that cesspool is deep. Flip of a coin between him and dear leader most anytime.

    I agree!

  • there is a threshold beyond where it matters not. many have the capacity to outdo others in damage. hesgeth temporary in lead, all ultimately backed by trump and subject to ex ante bus-tossing.

a bit like asking "which psychopath in max security isolation ward would be the safest for home adoption?'

  • He thinks he's playing a video game and morphed inside; like the first TRON movie.
And/or; pushing the cause for that big tattoo on his chest. Mega Maniacs, one and all.

It's heartwarming to watch Donald J. Trump and Pete Kegsbreath express sympathy
towards we Americans who are experiencing significant price increases for gasoline.

  • Hysterically funny scene.

Which means they will be angling to get SNL taken off the air. I think this First Amendment assault ends when a network refuses to comply, their license is revoked and there is an emergency SCOTUS session with a harsh rebuke from nearly all of Gladys Knight's backup group.
  • Carr is right behind Hegseth. Noem was a frontrunner, as well.
  • Levitt & Patel were near the top on my list.
  • There are plenty of (un)worthy contenders in the Trump administration!
  • Yes- every day a new member seems to join the contest for the stupidest. But i still think that our dear leader deserves the top spot. If there isn't a Nobel Prize for "Stupid" there really should be.

This seems like it fits well here.

"The vice president is realizing that signing on with Donald Trump might seem like a shortcut to the top, but it’s actually a guarantee of humiliation."

"Mike Pence should have been a warning to J. D. Vance about the inevitable abasement in store once you join a ticket with Donald Trump. Before he became Trump’s running mate a decade ago, conservative Christian values were the center of Pence’s political identity, but in October 2016, he reluctantly stood by Trump after the release of the tape in which Trump boasted about grabbing women “by the pussy.” It was a sign of things to come. Pence became vice president, and for the next four years, he defended his boss through moral abominations and deficit explosions that cut against his fiscal conservatism, flinching only when Trump asked him to help steal an election. His reward? Trump did nothing while a mob threatened to hang Pence."

    Lots of lols!
  • It's hard to feel sorry or be sympathetic toward someone who claims the conservative moral Christian high ground and casually dismisses it in the pursuit of power. He should have known and acted upon Trumps MO long before that point. It is however in line with so many others who claim Christian values.
  • Yes, it is! @Mark A deep hypocrisy exists for so many, who believe they are entitled to absolution by making a religious plea of "my bad".

In terms of Vance, he is getting exactly what he deserves. He saw what happened to pence, and thought that he was immune from it. "Another one bites the dust" should be the administrations's slogan.
