Yep. Trust that billions are being made these past two weeks (and for the foreseeable future) on whispers and winks.

It's only for a month. And it looks like Trump finally got Mexico to pay for a wall - not an engineered wall, but a wall of 10,000 soldiers on the border.

From what I've seen, much of his 'win' over Mexico is 'getting' them to do exactly what Biden was able to get them to do ... though Biden did it without causing diplomatic or markets drama.

Thanks @Stillers. Comment was a tease. The tariffs on Mexico have been delayed one month pending negotiations.

PS - It’s a good thing nobody’s making drastic portfolio changes based on every word emanating from the White House these days.
  • Was it all just a performance to make the China tariffs more digestible?
  • The big Bluff was shot down. He can't really revive this, but his ego might force him to try.

Is the US border "safer" with 10K Mexican soldiers stationed there? Not confident about that one.

It's their Guardia Nacional. What could possibly go wrong?

I can't imagine anyone was impressed by this performance piece. Well, Putin was impressed for a little while at least: https://www.cnbc.com/2025/02/03/putin-says-europe-will-stand-at-feet-of-master-as-trump-imposes-tariffs.html
“I assure you: Trump, with his character, with his persistence, he will restore order there [Europe] quite quickly. And all of them, you will see — it will happen quickly, soon — they will all stand at the feet of the master and will wag their tails a little. Everything will fall into place,”

Now the illegal migrants and drugs can pass under the protection of 10,000 soldiers. Any agreement that does not tie to verifiable numbers is just another Houdini’s act.

Watch this Monday interview with Richard Fischer, former Dallas Fed Pres and Deputy US Trade representative, whose first language is Spanish because he grew up in Mexico.

  • From this AM news, it looks like China has counter-tariffs. Xi hasn't called Trump to ask for temporary postponements of the new tariffs as Scheinbaum (Mexico) and Trudeau (Canada) did. Old news was also that Xi was invited to the Inauguration but sent an underling.
  • prior Biden agreements from last fall, I read
  • NPR's Here and Now did an interview with a WaPo reporter based in Mexico City today. Seems Mexico already has 15,000 troops stationed along the U.S. border.
  • Yes. I'm reading that Canada and Mexico are already doing what they promised to do, to get the upcoming tariffs removed (paused.)

Trouble with Mexico is described by Richard Fischer, very tactfully. The gummint there does not really have control of things.
  • progtard NPR will be crippled or killed soon, so enough of that kind of woke reporting

We know how long it takes to move and station 10,000 soldiers to the border permanently or even temporarily from their current military bases.

I just attempted to watch, as I do every day, the PBS News Hour. For the first time: "Something went wrong. Please try later, or call PBS Support."

Did the Orange Monster pull the plug?

Elon Musk probably stormed PBS's offices in the middle of the night and terminated all staff in the name of the evil empire. GO MAGA movement!!

Make sure to silence all those who dare oppose you.

    The blitzkreig continues. SCHNELL, dummkopfs.
  • Speaking of damages that Musk is causing to the government. Turely appalling ….

Some of those working for Musk don’t have security clearance but they are assess classified files in the Treasury department.
  • * I was actually able to tune into PBS later in the day. I was concerned because it's been reported that uncle Orange was seeing to it that investigations would be undertaken into those bastions of woke-dom and general harm to the public. Sieg Heil.
