Trump announces he intends to replace current FBI director with loyalist Kash Patel

Comments

  • Too bad for Chris Wray; nominated by Dump, and turned out to be a good one. Now another nut case takes over -- if the R Senate will confirm, or get out of the way for a recess appointment. This one's a good test for the Senate; Patel is utterly the wrong person for this job, any job in a sane government.
  • I'm afraid that a "sane" government is not on the immediate horizon.
  • We can forget about any chance of that for something like 1,500 days.
  • Non-political appointment. 10 year term. WTF happened to THAT? Watch Murkowski (AK) and Collins (ME). McConnell is a Company Man. He'll buckle. It's shaping up to be a crazy-ass 4 years. Will democracy survive the onslaught?

There will be a lot of public support if James Comey is prosecuted even on trumped up charges. I am expecting charges against Comey whether Patel clears Senate or not.

Unfortunately, not much cleaning up of Govt will happen if they go for personal retributions, rather than an honest cleaning up / revamping / reimagining Govt. These guys seem more interested in (by their own statements) in settling personal scores. That is how we degenerate into a third world country. Otherwise, there is a lot of abuse of power in the Govt. both at federal and State levels that needs cleaning up.
