No one should be making excuses for Trump

  • Great essay, absolutely right on.

The opposition party needs to get its stuff together ... to OPPOSE the insanity and make it as clear as possible to the country that it is insanity if what people want is a government that works for the people at large.

How about a weekly press conference with a concise, focused rundown of what they're doing that is wrecking gov't for the people. Throw in a few jokes, clever phrases, nicknames, etc. to keep the bothsides rubes of the press happy. Do SOMETHING smart, starting now.

Yes, but the deplorables do not tune in.

    +1.

Putin is wanting to restore the former Soviet "greatness." By the same token, Trump is literally attempting to regurgitate Manifest Destiny, a polity modeled upon White WASP Puritanism. That is the standard he wants to enforce. "Us white guys are civilized and smart and better than the rest of you. So, find a way to fit-in."

I do believe there are valuable cultural and legal facets connected to (mostly) white, Western/European history and systems. Yet have we not all discovered that one cultural group's identity ought not pre-empt the others????? Obviously, a big pile of people have not learned it yet. One of the Orange Nut's first actions was to officially rename Denali to Mt. McKinley. REALLY???? Is THAT the best you can do? Your first priority? As for me, I don't see why we can't use either name, interchangeably, eh?

Ha! As big a fan as I am of that SNL segment, it wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

Calm Down!!! At least it isn't going to be "Trump Gulf" or even "Gulf of Trump". That's something...

How about changing Denali back to the ridiculous McKinley for a mountain WMc never had any connection to? It does show us where we're headed -- the 1890s, bank panics and all. (FWIW, the two U.S. senators from AK, both Rs, are against the name change.)

    NYT story.
