>> absconding last week on their responsibility to pay for it
say what?
I'm not sure if your objection is (1) to my choice of words or (2) to my intended (satirical) meaning.
Re # 1: Abdicate probably fits better than abscond (which implies fleeing in an unlawful manner). Poor word choice. My bad.
Re #2: Of course the entire comment was intended satirically, since I don't think it's ever been indisputably established that Mexico has a responsibility to pay for the wall.
--- However, had I wanted to highlight the absurdity of the entire situation, than I might have intentionally selected an inappropriate word (abscond) simply to highlight the absurdity.
Well, steel really sounds really great, but with those 25% tariffs in place, won't that raise the price from $5.7B to $7.1B?
I'm sorry, Mr. Trump, but if we can't afford to pay some farmers to not sell soybeans, then I don't see how we can pay so much extra money just so that we don't build a concrete wall.
And that's just the extra cost for the cheap Chinese stuff. Better make it high cost stainless steel, otherwise it will rust in the middle of the Rio Grande.

Don't remember.
