"e.g. Gov't economic reliance upon and promotion of home building"
More like "Gov't economic reliance upon and promotion of home ownership." In which the gov't was fully and lustily aided and abetted by criminal activities on the part of Wall Street and the Big Banks. The Gov't certainly didn't do much to prevent the abuse, but then again, who wants big government? Gov't already interferes too much into everything. The Cato and Hoover institutes fully back me on this, as do the Koch brothers.
Not only that, but I'm pretty sure that those guys can also prove that Blinder (a well-known left-wing socialist) is completely wrong, and we all would now be much better off if the government had done exactly nothing. And besides, the whole thing is Obama's fault anyway... what else would you expect from yet another well-known left-wing Muslim socialist?
What could possibly go wrong with these? Good grief!!
(if you're on bp meds, I hope you haven't forgotten to dose today" - Thanks much for the reminder... they're sitting on the desk right here by my elbow... I'll go take them right now!
Apologize for the introduction of left/right stuff above. I'd just been reading a bunch of comments in various WSJ articles, and that always drives me around the bend. No problem with the reporting- that's just fine.
For example, you should see the typical responses to an article re the FAA trying to regulate morons flying fairly large drones right in the middle of air-traffic control areas. "More government overreach", "yet another example of the president's conspiracy to take away yet more freedom from US citizens", etc. When the day comes (and it's just a matter of time) that an airliner crashes because of an engine ingesting a stupid drone these WSJ types will be the first to demand that everyone responsible at the FAA be fired because of incompetency.
Some quotes from WSJ readers on the drone problem-
"The clock is ticking on the Obama regime. In little more than a year they'll be gone. They must make haste to throttle innovation and strangle initiative in the time remaining."
"No! I'm not going to comply. Merry Christmas Freedom!!!"

@Old_Joe And they're baaaaaack (if you're on bp meds, I hope you haven't forgotten to dose today):
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-10-20/cdo-revival-led-by-hedge-funds-pinning-hopes-on-smallest-banks
Notice how they're getting around Dodd-Frank--- money from small banks (who are not subject to cap reserve requirements of TBTFs)
Notice where the small banks are getting the money--- The Government!
What could possibly go wrong with these? Good grief!!

"This is regulation run amok."
"Drone sightings? Is Obama speaking today?"
I don't make this stuff up.
