@johnN: "Tsp Ira all in 2045 spy Iwm and vo..."
Unclear.
TSP isn't an IRA and it doesn't offer one. If TSP, did you signup for new brokerage window? Heard bad things about it - too expensive, etc. There is indeed TDF L2045; a unique aspect is tha…
WFC acquired what remained of Strong Capital (its famous ad-line was: Is your portfolio Strong?).
Invesco acquired OppneheimerFunds. Invesco has been an aggressive acquirer but it is taking some rest now.
True, Franklin Templeton is now quite diffe…
Last year, the media declared Allocation 60-40 dead, and this year they have risen from the dead, or risen from the ashes. WSJ, Barron's, M*, almost everybody. Media headlines are for the the current news with some hype.
While basic 60-40 (SP500-li…
M* has investor-returns (vs fund-returns). That is an AUM weighted-average of fund-returns. IMO, it is a flawed statistics for investor experience, but it is all that is available. A surprising conclusion is that investor-returns and fund-returns ar…
Treasury ladder doesn't have the issue of credit research needed for bond ladder.
BTW, mid/late-month is a good time to jump start T-Bill ladders when 13-wk (next 4/17/23), 26-wk (next 4/17/23), 52-wk (next 4/18/23) T-Bills are sold.
As posted els…
I used a wide range for fixed rate (0.40-1.00%). The current fixed rate of 0.40% should go up. But with 5-yr TIPS at 1.18%, 1.00% sounds generous. So, the range of 3.79-4.40% for the combined rate is solid.
That may be the restriction of your specific 401a plan, not a general restriction by the brokerage firm. It seems that your 401k plan had a change and the old options are frozen - i.e. cannot add but can withdraw.
VWELX / VWENX has mostly inv-grade bonds. It is a moderate-allocation fund.
PRWCX also has HY & convertibles. It is really a capital appreciation fund that ends up in moderate-allocation by its tradition/history, and may at times have aggressiv…
Ignoring past history (as the rate environment was different), I am thinking of using ultra-ST bonds as an alternative for manual- or auto- rolls of T-Bills.

Search "PFIC" tax issues.
Most foreign funds that hold property or physical commodities are PFICs for the US investors. This is because the US laws/regulations for funds are quite different from those elsewhere, and the PFIC designation prevents b…
I posted on Fido Inv Comm too. A Rep told me to clean cookies, or just call Fido.
At first, I was SKEPTICAL as the NetBenefit access failed from Chrome, Edge AND from within the brokerage login (https://fidelity.com ).
But then I tried Firefox tha…
James Anderson retired in 2022 from VWIGX /VWILX. He was the lead Baillie Gifford (70% of fund AUM) manager who very successfully ran "high focus", "concentrated", "aggressive" strategy. The "international" is interpreted generously, so North Americ…
Have you looked at Matthews Asia ETFs?
Unrelated, but I recently switched MATFX (w/painful distributions) to MINV.

@hank, only the precious metal funds may own physical commodities. Most other commodity funds use futures for commodity exposures, and some may be leveraged via futures (i.e. more than 100% exposure).

Jobs report today, Good Friday was within expectations. Futures and cryptos aren't showing any reaction.
Of course, the next BIG news will be CPI on Wednesday that will also nearly determine the next I-Bond rate on May 1 (expected 3-4% only vs cur…
Both gold-miners (majors GDX, majors/minors GDXJ) and gold bullion (GLD, lower ER IAU) peaked in July 2020; another attempt was in early-2022.
Now, gold is approaching those highs, but gold-miners are still far from those highs. Chart shows GDX and…
OSTIX is really a conservatively run HY fund. M* in fact classifies it as such. Strategic in its name may give people impression that it is multi, but Carl Kaufman is a HY specialist and stays mostly in the HY area.
Another conservatively run HY is…
I could login OK just now.
I think they were off for maintenance for a while on Sunday - of course, no notice was posted. But I could login on Monday too.
Spinoff will be Power-Vernova in early-2024. Then the residual will be aviation to be just called GE.
So, by 2024, Old GE = New aviation GE + healthcare GEHC + Power-Vernova
Giroux just moved GE from his Top 5, even Top 10, but GE +GEHC (spinoff) combo still had the weight of 1.84% of AUM on 12/31/22. So, that was down from 2.00-2.25% of AUM earlier (Edit: GE topped at 4.7% of AUM in early-2022) . I think that he will s…

I read that Saudis were hoping that the US will start ordering oil to refill its alarmingly low SPR when oil prices fell. When that didn't happen, the Saudis also went along with OPEC/OPEC+ production cuts to support global oil prices. Of course, th…
@Crash, TIPS use (unadjusted) CPI with 2-mo lag. Treasury publishes detailed TIPS index tables that look confusing until one figures out this 2-mo lag. The monthly (unadjusted) CPI changes are at FRED, https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=128qr
That may be coincidence as Thrivent also has a conservative allocation fund with ticker TCAIX (note similarity with TCAF). But I have checked and, as far as I can see, Thrivent ALLOCATION fund team doesn't have any Price connection(s).
I see that @…
M* does show PRWCX status as "Limited". It is closed to new investors but open to existing investors; I have also read that people may transfer 401k/403b into PRWCX at Price.
Ticker for forthcoming PRWCX cousin ETF will be TCAF.
Retail investors may not have the fortitude to hang on to 30-yr TIPS. But IMO, holding 5-yr TIPS to maturity and rolling them over (and laddering) should work fine too to approximately capture the CPI. The real-yields (TIPS yields) have been in +/- …
