@FD1000, why is that you invest only (or primarily) in bond OEFs and not in bond ETFs, which presumably will give you a better opportunity to buy low and sell high than OEFs would?
@stillers problem I think is what YBB described. Go enjoy your weekend and get on the phone with Vanguard first thing on Tuesday. Hopefully, by the end of the week you enjoy the service elsewhere.
Doctors always have after hour emergency number to call.
If you are moving out a taxable account, I would make multiple partial account transfers to make sure cost basis gets transferred right. Leave a few dollars in the account until you are rea…
Thanks, @WABAC. 3 is more than I was expecting but that is what M* says. He has 50% or more in 3-5 yr range. He has more than 30% or more below BB and about 43% in AA. I mention the credit rating only for edification and not to worry about anyt…
May be do us a favor and post how PRWCX positioned its bond sleeve.
On a separate but related note, Nomura is expecting 10 yr to hit 6% in 2025. Gloomy Bloomy says that is similar to TRP’s forecast, without saying what TRP’s forecast is.
Edit: …
Thanks @msf.
I would not assume FHLBs would maintain their credit rating over a 20-30 yr period. It is possible their bonds are already priced as if they are lower rated than what the official rating shows.
There is a higher chance USTs would m…
@Level5, When buying callable Agencies, I ask myself if I would be OK with the interest rate if the bond is never called.
20 years is too far out - I may not be alive and I do not know if 5.5 to 6% yield is enough for something that far out, unles…
Look at this interesting CUSIP 3134HA3J0, a 10 yr Agency
It is callable every three months from the issue date, 1/22. It offers a 6% interest rate if it does not get called on 7/22/2025 or 4/22/2025. If it gets called on either of those dates, th…
I was not sure if the survey timing did not properly capture the PPI and CPI release timing. So, I checked for today's fear and greed index. I am a bit surprised by the reading, especially of the components, granted I had not been keeping tabs on…
Hmmm... Schwab shows the fund is available only to existing shareholders. Barrons shows it as closed.
Dennis, Based the info in this thread, it is available to new customers only at Firstrade and TRP.
MRFOX has issued new prospectus and SAI dated December 29, 2024.
I am not able to tell changes in the Prospectus (may be it is the changes in the SAI). Please share if you noticed any changes / updates.
Their year end (December) commentary is …
Thanks. @bee
Do have GEV shareholders in the forum? I sold some shares $50 below the current price thinking it is way overpriced. If any one has an insight into its valuation, please share.
I did not read the thread but based on posters involved, I figured this John Stewart episode could be relevant-

If there were an opportunity to run polls in this forum, I would try to find out
A. Of those fully retired, how many manage their portfolio for total return and how many target X amount of income per month / year.
B. Of those that target X amou…
@bee,
No reason to force feed others - can not do more than show sign posts. The job is done if your thread becomes a permanent thread.
Just keep posting here with a link whenever Michael comes out with a new article. You know I am interested.…
@bee,
Five days ago, I started what I hoped is a permanent thread on Michael’s Eye on the Market.

I received not a single interest. I hope your post receives interest.
Thanks @mona and @gman57.
I was told that once you are on a MA plan for a couple of years, you can’t switch to a Supplemental plan, unless MA plans are no longer offered in your area. It is good to know you can switch between MA HMO and PPO plans.
Thanks.
At the risk of gross generalization, it seems I do not need to be overly concerned about the size of the MA PPO plan network as long as I can find Dr that accepts Medicare.
My Dad’s supplemental PPO allows him to go to which ever prima…
Thanks, Mike. That is very helpful. So, may be I should not bother so much about size of network of a PPO plan - of course, I should read the terms (my costs) of out of network care of the plan available to me ( yours looks very good to me).
Do…
The stranglehold of the Duopoly.
Many articles have been written by scholars from leading Universities about the ways the two political parties keep the pie to themselves. Offering you a choice between the frying pan and the fire.
I checked Schwab, Fidelity, and Merrill for availability of TRAIX.
Schwab says, "Availability - Institutional Customers Only" which I understand means their Advisory clients only.
Fidelity says, "This fund cannot be traded at Fidelity." PRWCX …

Everything is covered.
What I personally do, does not include "human" in the above. I add "human" …
I was trying to compare the extent of the network of Medicare Advantage PPO ("MAP") with that of the Medigap offered by the same company in the same location. May be a better way to ask the question is, do MAP allow similar care / treatment access …
+1 Joe.
That brings us to Greenland. There are fewer than 57K Greenlanders. You give them $57B of US Treasury bonds - deposit proportionally in each Greenlander's bank account. May be they will join in. If I were a Greenlander, I would be nerv…
They are out of touch because they are out of touch with the reality of their brand perception. Calling them "Out of Touch" is just a kinder way of saying what @rono has already said. Do not blame the customer when the issue is with the product, o…

Did any one experience the Med Ad PPO plans to have smaller nextworks than Med Sup plans? I am trying to figure out the economics for the insurance companies offering the former plans to be able to offer plans with comparable service to end c…
You don’t have to be crazy to think this way, but it helps.
No joke. At every turn, more and more absurdity faces us. Will we ever get back to normal? The majority of voters are ...... dolts.
I do not think the voters are responsible. Either you h…
Thanks, Joe.
Thanks, Crash. I likely will buy supplemental (medigap). I currently have the cheapest plan available in the market and pay $850 per month (I have to check how much they charged for 2025). A few years to Medicare. If insurance an…
