There are institutional share classes and institutional investors. Schwab has designated more funds as accessible only to institutional investors / advisory platform; some of these funds are accessible to retail at Fido but the institutional share …
What purpose is RPHIX currently serving in a portfolio? Perhaps, looking for active management in anticipation of drop in yields at the short end? But at 1% ER? I think @WABAC or some one else already commented recently about this high ER. Also,…
Thanks, Guys.
Beyond pricing, having a responsible, problem solving Rep has the benefit of assigning any issue one might have so you can go do other things. It is easy for many Reps to just explain away the issue or give you a "N0" or "can not b…
@MrRuffles, if you are willing to disclose, do you have an advisory account or other special account at Schwab? How did you come to have a dedicated remote CFP assigned to your account when you already have a local branch rep assigned to your accou…
What is the difference between VMFXX and VMRXX, except for the 1 or 2 basis points 7-day yield difference?
VMRXX product summary from VG website: "The fund invests at least 99.5% of its total assets in cash, U.S. government securities, and/or repur…
I asked my Schwab rep out of Texas if they could waive TF’s on a number of MF’s after a rep in my local office gave me the thumbs down. The remote rep was happy to do it and I just had to inform them after making my purchases.
It seems it is discret…
Sorry about that. Please see above ER for completeness.
You are good. I was not referring to you or any one in particular but was making a general observation for improvements in sharing info.
@Mark, Both Schwab and Fidelity charge their own fees only on one leg of the transaction. TF funds charge when buying. NTF charge when selling if there is a violation of minimum required holding period (multiple violations attract multiple fees).
"The rest i will sell in the future without incurring fees at Fidelity. Can’t exactly do that at Schwab."
Try finding earlier posts re Schwab fees on mutual funds transferred to Schwab. As of a couple of weeks ago, Schwab did not impose its own ST…
Just an FYI FWIW -
For a number of years now, my home and auto insurance are with separate companies. I could not get them to be cheaper with the same company and with multi-policy discount. In any case, at renewal time of my home owners' I trie…
As rates are stabilizing, I do not see an edge over the past one year. Since storms are always possible, May be this can have an appeal in the future. I personally do not pay a ot of attention to M* medal ratings but pay attention to their * rati…
@rforno …. Thanks very much for posting this. I didn’t realize that Schwab was charging so much for their MMs. I will have to explore some of these alternatives that folks here are recommending. So did you put all your excess cash into SGOV?
Are…
Telling the members that the fund is new but no other facts about the fund is not useful, unless you would like members to tell you that it is OK to invest in a 2 yr old fund. Some of us do invest in newer funds. irrespective of whether the manager…
Fido website trade ticket is so archaic. What is up with the default Type margin for Buys and default Type cash for Sells? They do not seem to want to change while admitting that it is a nuisance for clients. You can not also submit a GTC + exten…
This SEC has been a disappointment. They are just entertaining themselves with small stuff and missing big stuff like SBF. The whole Alameda and FTX complex was allowed to continue until market forces took them down. One may say prior SECs were n…
Not sure how we can keep pulling up the market without software names and small caps going up. Sold small cap software names and bought industrial value to keep equity constant but unwittingly this further reduced my tech exposure below market weig…
An update on fund flows -
The fund had the same or higher inflows than the previous month since Sept 23. That trend broke in May when the inflows are about half of those in April.
Somehow people participating in polls think they are influencing those consuming the poll data. Similarly, people who post political and strong personal preferences also think they are influencing/ converting others to their presumed enlightened vi…

Investing is difficult and humbling and I have difficulty making money in the market (US) I live in. My respects to all you guys trying to invest in far away lands.
@wabac, sent you a PM.
Passive works when beta is eating alpha. I think the bigger lesson is stop doing what is not working, not just in investing. But it is difficult to quit bad habits, like picking up cigarette butts or deep values. If inclined to sticking with conv…
This forum gets a lot of political pot shots in the name of economic and investing discussion. As I have said many times, I would pay for that Ignore function / feature I have asked for.
Here is Moody's view -

May be one day they would do the same for US saving bonds which are currently eligible for tax exemption if used for education! One way to please the younger generation!
P.S.: I do not own Series E. I only own IBonds in trying to anticipate infla…
I will sell my position if you all want it to go up
We all feel that way. Check @JD_co posts about him being a contrarian indicator. JD says he only needs to think about a trade (and not actually do it) and the price will move in the opposite dire…
@WABAC, I corrected my post for PYLD TR. Your # matches with Yahoo Finance and so M* # now must be correct. interestingly, M* now shows PAXS YTD TR at 16%. I remember last night it showed something like 8%. If it is truly 8% more, it is free mon…
Duration for PRWCX is 3.89. Is that working out for any kind of bond holdings this year?
I know a few, some in this forum, that do not have access to PRWCX but like the manager and have tried to create their own PRWCX by pairing TCAF with PYLD. PYL…
A quick update -
YTD, 4.9% for PRWCX vs 10.17% for TCAF
PRWCX has 63% in equities as of 4/30. If one put 63% in TCAF and bought very safe bonds / bills (or even MM type) with the remaining 37%, one's YTD return would be around 7.4%. Nearly 50% h…
Schwab is running a promotion for transferring assets from Fidelity. If you are transferring from VG, then you might need a two step process, with a stop at Fidelity!
Hi @mikeW, I hope we can have a column for you in the coming month's MFO on International Equities allocation as Part I. Will try and write about funds next month.
You probably only have a couple of days to crank that out. It will be great if you …
@Sven, Thanks.
That is plenty. No need to find that thread for me. I think VG will straighten by shrinking or decelerating the increase in AUM or increasing fees and devoting more resources / $1 AUM to create a better platform. When that Bogle…
