  • Thanks, @msf and @Old_Joe. Only today, before I wrote the OP, it occurred to me that I have been carrying collision deductible higher than the blue book value of my car, giving an incentive to the insurance company to declare the car totaled in cas…
  • Any one tracking HY fixed income? Why did the HY prices jump so much relative to change in rates and equity prices for the past two weeks? Is HY loaded with Energy companies, the recently lagging equity sector did very well the past two weeks. An…
  • Happy wife, happy life.
  • Is this Black Hills Corp, a utility?
  • There is certainly a mismatch in the generally announced ex-div date 12/26/24 & the ex-div date on which the exchange reduced the price, 12/27/24. In cases where there is a discrepancy, the official ex-div date is that on which the exchange tak…

  • There is some news concerning this on Big Bang! Investors: https://big-bang-investors.proboards.com/thread/3319/crossingbridge-nordic-high-income-registration Thank you. It seems Chahta has already reached out to John Connors. Let us see what com…

  • The ex Date NAV still has not been adjusted down for the distribution. It is not like the firm does not charge enough ER to have sufficient resources to have proper processes and controls.
  • I bill pay and use Fidelity brokerage like a checking account. I do not have their CMA. I am not sure why I need a bank account, which I do not use for anything these days. Wires are free too.
  • A 50k CD came due today. Replaced it with a Treasury maturing 11/30/26 @ 4.24%. I have to shop in a couple days when my JPM bond / CD (I do not remember which one) gets redeemed (called).
  • @dtconroe, I am requoting my previous post for reference. I never had any bad experiences with CUs when I was their customer. I can endorse CU as financial institutions, especially for their excellent customer service. I have dealt with them over…
  • I can endorse CU as financial institutions, especially for their excellent customer service. I have dealt with them over the years. I never had large enough invested with them to worry about their balance sheet or how NCUA works. It seems they ge…
  • Josh Brown?
  • Does Israel get hacked like we do, even as a proportion of GDP?
  • Is that reason why the Treasuries across the curve increased in value bigly today? Now it makes sense why US equities have been on a tear too. There is so much hand wringing about TikTok ban. There is no end to greed. Look at all the other cou…
  • Along the lines of what Racq said, I think there is a great YouTube video where Howard Marks discussed what risk means. I had shared it in this forum. You can search the forum.
  • Thanks, Joe. Well articulated and to the point. Interestingly, all the well known publishers issuing opinion pieces have scathing commentary about the manifesto and Mangione, without giving us a copy of the manifesto. It makes me wonder how syste…
  • OJ, we need to incentivize him to visit the forum more often. We need more even handed (headed?) people like him in this forum. My sense is the recent drive by shooters we had in this forum are all recent converts to the GOP like Trump.
  • What else do we expect in a Coalition of Single Issue Voters? Though I did not expect this to get out in the open so soon before Jan 20. Unfortunately, this will take the heat off the Dems and their need for self reflection / improvement.
  • “[W]e've had a balanced budget for over 20 years, taxes are low, we don't fight and there are flowers on the bridges. WTF do you want? Oh, and I'll stack our Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance up against any in the nation for sustainability, environme…
  • OJ told me that the cool guys hang out in OT. So, I decided to check out what you guys are up to today. I am glad I peeked into this thread. I always thought die hard Democrats as self absorbed lazy intellectuals or intellectual snobs with a st…
  • It is better to understand the basics and contemplate than to eat what product selling financial institutions feed us. (loop back to YBB's post re ratings and securitization). No disrespect specific to VanEck intended (I use their products.)
  • "I would trust AAA rated corporates over AAA rated securitized stuff." Human beings need reminding the same thing every few years to protect them from themselves. By now, in the minds of many, GFC is just an acronym devoid of the depth of its true…
  • Please move this thread to OT - a big sand box to your heart's content. This thread has quickly outlived its usefulness in "Other Investing." Those interested in trashing this forum, Please first get your training on X where you will find lively…
  • @Derf, I think CrossingBridge can fix this if they act right away. Hi @David_Snowball (Prof. Snowball), do you mind alerting David Sherman to my yesterday's post in this thread? I could send an email to John Connors but this matter needs David's…
  • Yesterday, 12/26, NRDCX had YE distribution (0.07c) of cap gains and dividends and reinvested those distributions at $10.10 per share (10/26 NAV). Its NAV on 12/23 and 12/24 was also $10.10. In other words, the fund did not mark down the NAV by th…
  • How many of you predict we will have a viable third party before the end of 2027?
  • 10 yr Agency with 1 yr CP are now available at 5.7%. I bought the same Agency a month ago at the same rate but only 6 mo CP. With 10 yr Treasuries moving up 30+ bps, Agency did not have to increase their rates because they are able to play with CP…
  • "I don't have your fears or trust issues." You are making big, big assumptions about my fears and trusts. I have no reason to be fearful or have trust issues about something I do not have any knowledge about. In this thread posters shared how …
  • @dtconroe, I shall wait for @msf or YBB to reply to my post. I know it is an imposition on them because neither of them is seeking to invest in CU deposits but their reply would be a public service (as was my post - there are plenty of fish for m…
  • Most of us know how FDIC insurance works and troubled banks are resolved but most of us have no understanding of how deposit insurance works at credit union level. Please educate us with examples of how depositors of CUs were protected (or not pro…

  • Of the 12 Bitcoin ETFs, both the cheapest ER (BTC - 0.15%) and the most expensive ER (GBTC -1.5%) are from Grayscale (0.25%). When IBIT was introduced its ER was 0.12% until Jan 11, 2015 or until $5B in AUM, whichever comes first. Currently $50+B…
  • @dtconroe, In your first post today, you used the words "callable" and "non-callable" to mean the opposite of what they are commonly used for in the CD / bond land. Seems like everyone understood what you are trying to convey but it made your post…
  • This "Charts for your wall" episode should be pinned to the home screen for easy reference / reminder. @Observant, is it possible to duplicate your first post today also into the OP because today's post will be long burried? I was surprised it …
  • YBB, Thanks for the perspective. Good to know a AAA insurance company can keep one up at night for years. During GFC, I had many times over the FDIC limit in a savings account at a money center bank. I did not lose any sleep because I know th…
  • I was ranting, though I try to inject some humor to make it easy for others to bear my ranting and to make myself bear the situation. There is some truth in all of comedy. I was on a break from posting at MFO. I usually try not to get outraged …
  • I did not see your post before I posted. I added an "edit" to that effect.
