Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
Hi, all.
A few pieces of information that I hope are helpful -
Our regular website does indeed run on WordPress, however, we do not use GoDaddy for hosting. So far as I know, the Mutual Fund Observer site has not been breached. I added the "So far…

Office365 apps, including Word, now manage voice transcription fairly well with a button right on the toolbar. I wouldn't say it's as good as Dragon, but it's included at no extra cost if you use the Office 365 apps.
Most studies agree that 18-year-old brains are not yet fully developed. The areas that take longer to mature involve those things that regulate higher order cognitive functions and self control. That makes them great candidates for the military - th…
The accounts for Mines_Engineer and Thor have have both been placed in the moderation queue. Please continue to use the flag feature to let us know when something's up.
A note from the moderators -
This thread and another has been flagged. In my brief review I removed one post and edited another to remove a personal attack. I tried to leave all fund-relevant discussion.
Please try to keep it friendly!
A note from the moderators -
This thread has been repeatedly flagged. I didn't have time for more than a brief review, but based on what I saw I removed a few posts and edited one other. I left the posts that seemed mostly related to fund discussio…
I wish I could chime in with an answer - sadly not. I can say that nothing has changed "behind the scenes." We haven't recently updated anything or changed any settings in the discussion forum software.
My Windows 10 and Chrome Browser combo still…
We need to figure out how to add iframes to the Board, else too hard now to post Jing images.
iFrames pose a significant security risk. Most discussion board software will not allow iFrames in posts for that reason. Here's a bit of an explanation ht…
Hi, ET.
Thanks so much for the support! It means a lot. David is picking Will up from college today, so I thought I'd try to help. We've had a couple big financial service firms allow matches and we occasionally receive donations through donor advi…
I've put a ticket in with our hosting company. I'll keep you posted.

Update: The hosting company is aware of the problem and is working on it. They expect it to be fully resolved within an hour. I'll update again if I hear more.
Good news on the Chip front. I'm home! Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers. It was a little scary to go from a confirmed diagnosis to a completed surgery in under 24 hours.
I expect to have a headache for about a week and restricted …
I think I've got it!
Let me know if it all works for you, now. Please, if you notice anything else "broken", let me know. I wouldn't be surprised if there are still a few older snippets of code that need updating.
Thank you!
Yikes!
This is probably related to the security certificate I installed over the weekend. I'll have to dig into Accipiter's code later tonight to see if I can find the troublesome spot.
@PRESSmUP, @catch22, @JoeD, and everyone else.

Keep all of your software updated with the latest security patches! The recent widespread ransomware was enabled by a security flaw that was patched in March.

Thanks so much for all the well wishes. I'm feeling much better, though still a bit sore. The prescription is for ice and physical therapy over the next few weeks. I'm hopeful of being in tip top shape in time for March.
Hi, Derf.
We played around with doing exactly that, but were unable to get something that worked equally well in various browsers and at different screen sizes. We'll keep at it. Perhaps for MFO version 2.1

The long format is not dead! We know that many people prefer to sit down with a nice long read. If you look to the right, from any of the main pages, you'll see the option for a "long scroll". Just choose the issue you want …
@MrRuffles Tweaked the menu bar a bit. See if that helps.
@FundStudent I think we fixed the Search, too. It's not perfect, but it's working again.
Thanks for the feedback. It sure helps a lot.
We're live. You can check out our September issue in the new layout at http://www.mutualfundobserver.com/issue/september-2016/

Cloudflare is supposed to help speed up our site, by storing copies of static items (such as pictures) on servers around the world. In addition, if our server goes down (or gets really slow) Cloudflare will keep a copy of some of our pages available…
Hi, Maurice.
We use Google analytics for tracking basic site visitor information only. We get overall number of sessions, browser and OS stats, visit duration, and so on, but only on an aggregate level. At no time are we able to identify any specif…
I don't have an iPad2, but there are times when the Morningstar website is so slow that it's basically unusable. It might be that the Safari browser is more sensitive then Chrome on Windows 10.
@chip,
That link worked.
I think it's likely that your iPhone is storing (caching) old links. To fix that, you might want to consider clearing the browser cache. If you're using the Safari browser, the steps are:
Press Settings > Safari.
