  • In the last 15 years now, US LC are dominant, why investors MUST diversify more and/or invest in lagging categories and keep missing performance and in many cases have higher risk/volatility? US LC is the easiest, most common investment category, …
  • Hi yugo, I invest where markets tell me. 1995-2000 US LC 100% indexes 2000-2010 Value, SC, international mainly in 3 funds FAIRX,OAKBX, SGIIX Since 2010 mainly US LC+ PIMIX until 2018. Then mainly bond funds. In 2009 PAUIX(Arnott) + Cinsmond loo…
  • Different is great when your fund have better performance or at least better risk-adjusted performance, the rest are just excuses, such as diversification, SC, EM, Value looks great based on indicators that have been inaccurate for years, you can't…
  • I don't think that Eric Cinnamond is great, far from it. He looks good when markets collapsed and then he missed a lot of the upside. M* says that for one year PVCMX made under 8% while SPY made over 33% = 4 times more. Please don't come back with.…
  • The biggest "mistake" that many do is looking at duration which have the highest correlation to treasuries. Did duration predict PIMIX performance during 2010-18...or...RSIIX in the last several months? I already pointed out that my 3 funds have a …
  • FCNVX is my only bond fund that hasn’t disappointed me over the past year. At some point, I’ll start adding to my intermediate bond funds but they continue t lose value. Everything is relative. If you read my post above, RPHIX is my favorite as "sub…
  • I posted months ago since 2023 and in the beginning of the 2024 about 3 bond funds that should have a good risk-adjusted performance for 2024. RPHIX for "sub" MM and a possible 5-6% in 2024 CBLDX with higher volatility, but still low and higher p…
  • CDs? Sure for many, never for me because a good trader can do more. For months now I posted about the following 3 funds from less risky/volatile to more RPHIX,CBLDX,RSIIX/RSIVX. One year chart shows the results. https://schrts.co/REtABeZs. And 202…
  • Sure, anything can happen but I have been reading that this time, really, is the right time..for years already. I also read in 2008, 2020, 2022, that the Fed hands are tight and...here we are. I always believed in investing in the market you have, …
  • Grantham has been a bear and wrong since 2010. Link second paragraph.
  • I have heard why not EM....this time for about 15 years, and usually diversification is mentioned too . In the last 15 years, it has been one of the easiest time to make money since the easiest most common category, US LC, has been at the top, but …
  • YTD is pretty good for this investor owning just 2 bond OEFs at 2+%.
  • Why hate anything... The SP500 index is doing fine, since 11-01-23 it made "only" 23% while Apple made just 2.8% (https://schrts.co/iCfbrtyC)
  • Many "experts" who come on TV and predict a meltdown are wrong. A meltdown usually occurs with uncertainty or really bad news for markets. * 2008-9 = MBS fiasco * The Fed raised rates several times in 2018 * 02/2020 Covid was raging globally * Early…
  • The easiest way of all is log in to Schwab, at the top search for a specific fund, if you get a link below it means it's available, it should work at a high %. Looks pretty easy to me. But, the ultimate way is actually to enter a trade and see if it…
  • All I see is a beautiful uptrend SP500 in the last 4 months + performance of 20+% + low volatility where the index didn't lose more than 2.5% from any last top = excellent risk/reward. See the chart https://schrts.co/hTeZtxIG On Nov 1st I posted..…
  • @msf, series 6,7 or 112 doesn't matter that much. The facts at least for me over the years is that all the Fidelity reps who contacted me tried cookie-cutter ideas and pushed their agenda which would cost me money. Schwab never did, and my rep is wi…
  • Once upon a time, Wellstarde had access to many I share funds that were not available at Fidelity and Schwab + zero fees, but it wasn't a guarantee to be executed. It was fun for a while for several of us until most/all left their terrible customer …

  • @Ivyman, easy answer. Set at Schwab a transfer from TRP for 2-5 shares IN-KIND and see the results within days, you have nothing to lose.
  • I was assigned a Schwab rep. The guy is a pro with vast knowledge, has Series 7, 63, 66 Securities Licenses, fiduciary (another BS term). I can ask and consult with him about everything, even CEFs which I don't use but we talked about....all for FRE…
  • msf "It's just economics. Some places do better than others (e.g. economies of scale, better training methods, more productive technology, etc.), but they are all subject to the same tradeoffs." True for some but not all. I found over the years gre…
  • For me, there is nothing more irritating than calling Fidelity reps after I sell in an IRA, and half of them claim you can't do it, and then I insist on talking with a supervisor. I must be missing something here. What do you mean you can't sell …
  • @sma I have not had the "sell one fund buy another" issue at Fido but usually dont do that. I find Schwab's attitude about Sweep accounts very irritating and is clearly designed to make money off of John Q Public. It seems nasty, especially coupled …
  • If you get over the idea of core MM, Schwab is a better choice, at least for me. Any time I sell a fund, I enter to buy a MM fund and they pay better than Fidelity. It's really that simple. I stated here several annoying stuff that Fidelity does. 1)…
  • Understand now? MMM..maybe, congrats it's working for you, the more you or anyone else make the better. On the other hand, many of us have different styles, risk tolerance and goals. My main objectives were always to have an excellent risk/reward po…

  • MFROX First test for me, can I buy it at Fidelity or Schwab? I can buy it at Schwab at $1000 min in IRA and $10K min in taxable. It has a$49.95 fee (that is waived for me). But, This fund has a 2 % redemption fee if sold within 90 days. MFROX is an …

  • This is why I created the "experts" wall of shame. (link)
  • This thread is simple "YTD - how is your portfolio doing" I'm at 1+% using only 2-3 bond funds.
  • MS should have been fired years ago because he has been wrong for years. (link)
  • It is very likely the Fed will lower rates this year and what the Fed chair said...based on what we know now. The main key for rate increase/decrease over the years is how fast and how much.
  • Nothing new IMO. Stocks are down, well, the SP500 was up 20% since Nov and it's only down about 1%(before 3 PM) from the top. There is always a chance of a 3-5% pullback which is just how the market works, but the 24/7 media would like you to think…
  • Baseball_Fan, I have been doing pretty well using the big picture + T/A for decades..(link). You can also see what I think of many experts over the years, including Tom Lee (link).
  • The "king" of bonds, Gundlach, and other "experts" made bad predictions about rates and why I don't invest based on predictions and hope. I own funds that have done well lately. BTW, the Fed controls the short term rate, but markets control the long…
  • The Nov-Dec huge performance is over. YTD is what counts now. My "gamble" right now is on funds with low SD + bigger yield, think 8+%, and excellent performance YTD. There are 4 funds on my short list, I own 2. https://schrts.co/TeIaWmPu Definite…
  • You are getting close, I'm a trader who may hold several weeks or months. In 2021 JAAA was the worst. In 2022, a unique crazy year, CBLDX+JAAA did better than RSIVX Since 2023, JAAA has the best risk/reward. But, in the last 1-3 months RSIVX leads.…
  • Fidelity and Schwab are the gold standard when you look at everything (easy, fast, free services, actual office, opening hours, and more). I used to have others, closed them all and used only these 2. I always initiated it from the receiving brokera…
  • I can chime in but my style is different than yours. CBLDX + RSIVX/RSIIX are good options with lower volatility and both yields are higher than most at 8+% and 9+%. Usually, risk-adjusted performance is the most important, at least for me. That mean…
  • The 3 year chart says it all. https://schrts.co/TmZRSSMB Below is a 5 year chart. I added CBLDX. https://schrts.co/HWUMzpcV
  • My main debit card that I use all over the world for cash only is Schwab. It has everything I need, see https://thetravelfolk.com/no-atm-fees-the-charles-schwab-debit-card/ In the last several years, I hardly use cash because I can use Google pay +…
  • Sven " If one ventures into EM, make sure you pick experience fund managers, not indexing." FD: the above is good advice for most categories(stocks+bonds, that are not US LC.
