ANYONE KNOW WHY THEY HOLD 3 S&P 500 ETFS? WHY NOT JUST HOLD ONE?
It may be due to potential liquidity issues. The manager has said that it was designed to not need any changes even if/when the fund reached multiple billions in assets under manag…
QLEIX is on fire and I have a large position in it but watching it carefully for signs of hot hands deterioration like BIVIX.
On BIVIX, I scaled down quite a bit starting 2024. Made some decent coin but as with all things in hindsight, should have …
BLNDX / REMIX name has "Multi-Asset". I checked that those include stock ETFs, long-short derivatives and cash-equivalents to support derivative positions - and that it!
This isn't what a typical multi-asset fund has - stocks, bonds and alternativ…
Bumping the thread up.
BF, what do you plan to use the fund for? Buy and hold, trading, or something else?
Looking at the chart, I did not notice any diversifying aspects. It likely will be less volatile than SSO but more volatile than SPY.

Baron Global Advantage - BGAFX - is run by a former co-manager of Morgan Stanley Global Opportunity and has had better returns than the Morgan Stanley fund and it is wide open.
Bivrx is most definitely ntf at Schwab. I've been buying it for the past year ntf at Schwab in a regular brokerage account. I doubt there is anything not ntf at Schwab that's ntf at Ameritrade.
@Carefree: Has had difficulty beating it's benchmark the S&P 500 Index over the last ten years, I'd sell.
Regards,
Ted
In what ways has it had difficulty beating the S&P 500? It seems to have beaten it cleanly over the past 3, 5, and 10 year…
I think one thing that some miss is that the lower income folks have less of a need to max out their 401k vs. other options for savings. I'm a single guy who makes a little over 50k. My marginal tax rate is 12% with long term capital gains at 0%. I …
Hi, hmgodwin.
The Lipper database. Following your question, I checked Morningstar and found an odd report (cash= 37% long - 24% short, net 13% currently) and the normal fund material doesn't disclose it. I've written to Mike Roos at Artisan to see …
I have a question as to how/where David got his numbers for the cash holdings for funds in 15/15 funds update piece? In my research, the Artisan Thematic fund doesn't have 30% in cash but instead less than 10% and the FMI International doesn't have …
If there are no profits on the revenue then most would consider that revenue a waste of time at best. The US has a trade deficit with Mexico. So if we stopped trading for a period of time, how exactly is the US hurt?
I suppose by that logic we sho…
>> The question is who suffers more when trade stops, Mexico or the US? The answer is easy: the US currently has a trade deficit with Mexico, so Mexico is benefitting through this arrangement while the US is not. So if trading stops until thin…
How many businesses set up shop in Mexico to NOT make a profit or greater profits? It's pretty much the other way around. If you want to hurt businesses in the US then stop buying the stuff they export from Mexico back into the US. Of course if you …
Um, the analyst cited in the OP is being a bit deceptive. A company can do a billion dollars in revenue but the ultimate question is what are the profits on that revenue. If there are no profits on the revenue then most would consider that revenue …
I think no bear market survivor list is complete with Yacktman focus fund on it regardless of it's fees being over 1%. Here is an interesting blurb on it https://www.amgfunds.com/content/dam/amgfunds/Perspectives/Shared_PDFs/INS_Yacktman_ManagerForR…

Um, yes I'm now in.
Couple other things about this etf/the fund company in general:
1)I think this was the first fund/etf to own bitcoin. I think they began buying in 2015. The bitcoin helped it to return better than 80% last year. Bitcoin however is less than 1% of th…
Ameritrade runs the self directed account in my 401k. In it, the short term redemption fee is only charged when the fund is sold in under 90 days. So they have such capabilities, the question is whether the Scottrade transfer accounts will be coded …
@guilhermes,
The further investment at 0 cost seems to be unique among brokerages. If someone else offers such, I would like to hear about it. Scottrade's 2 dollar per further transactions was not bad either.
Catch-22,
The fund described was not simply a momentum etf but one that could tilt towards whichever factor was predicted to do the best in the near term. The fund in my post does that.
I didnt see the name of a fund in the interview but it seems that this is one of the funds that fits Sharon's description: https://www.oppenheimerfunds.com/advisors/fund/russell-1000-dynamic-multifactor-etf/04841
fidia,
I transferred part of my IRA account to Schwab while left part of it with Scottrade that will allow me to have access to the lower cost transaction fee funds. Scottrade allows partial transfers for free as well.

Calamos has an interesting looking fund that was originally a hedge fund that was converted to a mutual fund a few years ago. It has beaten the s&p 500 over the past ten years. Here is a link to a Barron profile of the fund - http://webreprints.…
Doesn't the phrase "stock pickers market" simply mean, that one is expecting something other than "everything is going to go up by a lot"? Is it stupid to think, that some companies deserved to go up by a lot and others did not? Now this year may be…
