@Observant - “The last time I checked, QLTY didn't hold NVDA or TSLA but it held the five other Magnificent 7 stocks.”
That’s what I noticed at M*. NVDIA has so thoroughly out-performed (excluding last 2-weeks) all the other Mag-7, which MAY, in it…
From: M*
GQG -> NVDIA = 10.X% (top investment)
QLTY -> MS = 7.X% (top investment; NVDIA not found in M* top 25)
This might account for *uneven* results over short period of time.
Deployed cash we had accumulated in T-IRAs during the spring ‘24, into mostly equity. Not a lot. Just enough to make me concerned about being too early.
@Sven - Mmkts will be dropping, but I’m not sure they’ll drop so far so fast. If the FOMC drops the short term rates 0.25% what will current MMkt (5.x%) at VG drop to? So I don’t see a reason to bale out of cash; but I could be wrong. Time will tel…
Continued to add to OSTIX, RSIIX, and RCTIX in our T-IRAs. With individual treasury rates slowly dropping, have been shifting money into these 3 as treasuries mature.
Opened a new position in FPNIX. Appreciate their focus on Securitized bond investments to offset my individual treasuries and corporate bond funds. Also added to DW’s RSIIX in T-IRA.
Reallocating funds from sale of VG short term corporates and Wellesley. Invested in 2-yr Treasury Notes, OSTIX, and RSIIX in respective IRAs.
Added to USFR and another 2-yr Treasury Note in taxable acct. I like using USFR as proxy for t-bills so…
To their credit, Empower responded with a fix. It was a clunky fix, which allowed me a different work-around. But the Empower response got me there in the end.
Placed an order for 2-yr t-notes in both IRAs. Considered 5 & 7-yr, but will wait till June since rates have slowly been rising, and will try not to kick myself if/when the rates drop.
@BaluBalu - I’ve dipped my toe in a callable indy agency bond last December, but still unsure of my footing. Vanguard doesn’t offer new agency bonds so I have to buy on the secondary market, which hurts my head trying to decipher the data prior to …
Even though I’ve transitioned most of our short and intermediate bond index funds to individual
t-bills, notes, and tips, I’ve still been DCAing into OSTIX and RSIIX.
I’ve had 12% of our portfolio in VWIAX for some time, but have paired it back by 1/3. With VWIAX invested in value stocks and intermediate bonds, its performance has lagged for several years.
When I first started investing, I had bought into the l…
@BaluBalu - You are spot on! The shift away from VG Wellesley is to reallocate from a Value and interm bond fund, to separate equity and bond investments. These will go to a total equity index and individual treasuries.
Moved all our VSCSX to VG mmkt (5.28%) to be re-deployed into individual t-bills, notes, bonds (upcoming 3-yr and 10-yr auctions). Moved an overweight position in VWIAX to VG mmkt for future reinvestment to VTI, JQUA, and individual treasuries as w…
Submitted an order to buy 2-yr treasury notes at auction in both our IRAs. I’ve been moving most of our investment grade bond funds to laddered treasuries (bills, notes, TIPS).
Added to current position in VTI and considering adding to earlier buy of 5-yr TIPS.
Update: Went ahead and placed an order for additional 5-yr TIPS in both IRAs.
Continuing to transition from bond funds to individual treasuries at auction; purchased 3-yr (4.5%) and 10-yr treas (auction on 4/10) in our IRAs. Will consider buying 5-yr tips on 4/11.
Update: called the main IRS number and verified my identity so they could transfer me to the appropriate number, and once again having to verify my identity, which included: soc sec, tax info from 2022 and 2023, for me and my wife, our address plus …
As my wife and I are retirees in our 70s, the market’s loftiness was beginning to cause a nose bleed. So I gave our VDADX and VTSAX investments a significant (for us) trim, and purchased some individual 10-year TIPS at the reopened auction.
Sold PIMIX for modest positions in RSIIX, RCTIX, and the bulk of funds into VG mmkt. Shifted funds from a singular focus on income to funds that include capital appreciation/preservation.
