Hi Art,
I grew up in the Hardware City (New Britain, CT) where Stanley Works all but shut down the city in the 1970's when they moved their manufaturing overseas. Even 40 years later the town is still trying to reinvent itself. When…
Health Care and more specifically Biotech have had a nice run...even with that in mind, dca into VGHCX would make sense to me. We are in a transitory period for Healthcare (ObamaCare). Companies are jockey for position and in the end this sector wil…

WAFMX, which is Africa-centric (frontier market) has definitely done well since it opened a little over a year ago. Here it is charted against the conservative MAPIX:
Thanks PB,
Looks like GAINX holds equal amounts of US (55%) and Foreign equities(45%) and is considered a World Stock fund. Heavily weighted towards Consumer Defensive stocks. Two other funds I like in the world stock catagory are USAWX and TOLSX.
Hi ron,
I would first determine what you would like your asset allocation mix to be going foward. If not 30-70, what? Once you have determined this new mix(40-60, 50-50,etc,), then I would evaluate the performance of the equities you hold. Over the…

Ageed...probably not a bad time to rebalance some PONDX back into PRGTX. Right now I am finding myself taking more profits from equities and moving those into bonds. One could use a conservative allocation fund (I use VWINX) to …

If NIRP does happen VUSTX will enjoy another (maybe last) round of capital appreciation. LT treasuries still serves as a flight to safety and responds positively if rates fall further.
Hi Investor,
I have recently tried an unconventional charting approach to help me with my trading decisions. Instead of charting a fund I own against its 200 dma, I chart my fund's performance against it's particular index. For example charting a T…
Hi prinx,

Good point...this sector seems ripe for mergers and acquistions, especially where known reserves exist, but current balance sheets are not sustainable.
The sector trend still appears downward moving.

My point is that recent performance is exactly what an investor should look at...especially, in light of a call from a legend. Bogle makes a call...you report it here. I agree with Bogle's asse…
A fund I noticed recently, PRVBX, is invested in the types of assets Bogle is suggesting. It has an amazing 7% 1 year return. Only $16 milliom AUM. M Cuggino is the manager. Here a link to recent I started on this tiny fund:

During the next few months I will be looking for funds that resist the dips of summer and have exhibited low volatility over longer time frames than a week. On my short list are TOLSX, GASFX, PONDX, WEAMX, MAPIX MACSX and PRHSX.

Hi K,
PETDX...Its strategy is a bit esoteric (its uses derivaitives) compared to say an index REIT like Vanguards VGSIX or VNQ. I own both.
