@msf, The days of cman. MaxBialystock...I will try to misremember less. Thanks for this post (repost).

You did mention impatience.

Thanks to @Maurice, @AndyJ, and @LLJB for your links.
This leading indicator does seems to be a bit elusive on a "up to moment basis" due to revisions. As noted by a few quotes from one link:

Just pure speculation, but could Treasury be selling assets prior to good news?
Today, July 7th, the market jump positively on news of higher than expected jobs report (something that Treasury should have been fully aware of). Yesterday's sell off…

Here's a former poster named "Max" in November 2013 testing the waters.
I have a feeling things worked out just fine for "Ol' Max" and his affinity for PRWCX and other TR Price funds.
Using Portfolio Visualizer the chart in David's article doesn't look all that much different when using the S&P 500 (I used VOO) in comparison to the FAANG stocks. Here what PV produced. I used equal weight for the FAANG stocks. (FAANG portfolio…
I found this possible explanation:
A few banks, including Wells Fargo, will let you borrow more than your car is worth, putting you in a negative equity position from day one.

@STB65,
Are you suggesting VMVFX?
WMVFX doesn't exist yet unless you are rolling it out here first on MFO.
By the way I do like the risk reward profile of VMVFX. A fairly new fund from Wanguard...Good choice.
If Dividends are the mother's milk for small investors, AUM and management fees are a similar elixir for fund managers.
An outflow of assets hurts a fund manager worse than an equity bear market when it comes to a fund manager's profits. Remember,…

@davidmoran,
I am not smart enough to understand why the two chart styles, but thought posting this would evoke an answer. Sorry I just can only offer dumb questions and even dumber looks.
Your explanation might be correct.

I wonder if an analogy or as @VintageFreak like to say, an ANALogy can be made with regard to countries holding foreign debt (as a result of trade) to electrical circuits.
In an electrical circuit excess voltage is often temporarily stored in a ca…
From the article:
To sell we'd need a Fed that's more hawkish than expected mixed with economic data that's weaker than expected. That combination could give us a domestic stock sell off this summer.

@VinetageFreak,
Supply and demand should work for bonds just like it is for stocks. So simply saying the inverse relationship exists is IMO not good enough. There needs to be substantial availability of higher yielding bonds of same maturity out the…

@Charles,
Equities and bond often go through periods of bifurcation.
As imperfect as EDV or TLT may be as investments in rising rate environments, they more importantly serve as a sort of "portfolio insurance" policy during "MAXDD FTS" (Maximum D…
HY Bonds are not confirming the recent uptick in the S&P 500. In fact they are indicating a pull back in equities.
The SP500 has rebounded from the May 17 one-day panic to push to a higher high. But high-yield bond ETFs like HIO are not confir…

That would be a 4.8% drop. So hedge your portfolio with EDV (long US Treasuries or your favorite non-correlated asset) at 4.8% of your portfolio if you believe this outcome is likely.
On a separate note:
Defensive funds showed themselves yesterday.
Bruce Fund (BRUFX) showed a small gain of .16%,
a high yield fund (AGDYX) was off .3%,
VWINX dropped .2%.
Bond fund PTIAX had a up day gaining .35%.

Good to know... I will inform my kids that I will need to move in with them as they will be much better prepared than I when I retire, but first I need to kick them out of my house.
Buying US Treasuries helps settle trade in a way that effectively lowers local inflation for these exporting countries.
I will find the article that explains this more clearly.
