The largest sources most likely are his daddy, the Russian mob, stiffing his workers and evading his taxes. No doubt there are plenty more but not his businesses. Those are all losing money according to him.
But trails the S&P 500 index over 1,3,5, and 10yr periods and only pays 0.50% more in annual dividends. Nice fund I'm sure and it's hard to argue with success but it seems like it could be better.
@Gary - the original post by Ted linked this article:

Oop's, my bad, spoke too soon.
"Trump administration showers Brazilian crooks with $62M bailout money meant for struggling U.S. farmers."
So... tariffs hurt soy farmers, China turns to Brazil to get soybeans, and then we give Brazilian a bailout?
…
Maybe not so much scared as pragmatic. Time will tell if this approach was the way to go but in the meantime everyone will be hurt by the tariffs (except some US farmers).
Okay maybe not everything, just like 99.98% or so. If you think that companies will just absorb the increases out of the goodness in their hearts you need to adjust your meds. The only business's that run at persistent losses, and proud of it, belon…
by Rothalpy to a WaPo article on the trade war:
"As an American Patriot, I just want to say I am happy to pay a tariff on the things I buy so that the government can give that money to farmers to pay them to not grow beans they can't sell to China, …
"Personally, if the U.S. administration wants to pursue what they consider to be righteous or justified trade agreement; publish the draft and what portions China reportedly will not agree to implement."

Unless I read the article wrong, which is entirely possible by the way, this isn't about ETF's performing this magic, it's about Mutual Funds doing it. Two different breeds of cats.
Ms. Kamala Harris dunking on this fool:
"I’ll be frank: In yesterday’s hearing, Attorney General Barr refused to answer most of my questions -- and when he did, his answers were alarming. He admitted he had never even reviewed the underlying eviden…
@msf - I understand that but the question remains, are the capital gain taxes not being paid? To my uneducated eyes, someone, somewhere should be paying them whether the sale happens in a heartbeat or over coffee. The article seems to say that the …
To me this just smells bad. Are they saying that all I need to do to avoid paying capital gain taxes on my stock holdings I wish to get rid of is transfer them into my own personal ETF that I'd better get started on creating?
Bernie is only a democrat when it suits him (read: financial aid, major party endorsement). I appreciate his social justice stance(s) but I have little faith in his ability to compromise and no idea hoe he'll deal on issues outside our borders.

@catch22 - yes I did. Thank you for the editorial heads up.
Weather wise same here. A few nice days mixed in with the winter that never ends. No skeets just yet but the control district surveyors have been out checking. I braved it Thursday and put…
@young - I have no bias against TCW because frankly I don't know that much about them. However, the particular fund you inquired about gives me pause because:
°It is a very concentrated fund, +52% in the top ten holdings, +12% in the top holding, Th…
"So where should college students go to learn the basics of everything from credit cards to loans?"
If they weren't exposed to it by sophomore year high school how about a first year course on household finance? It's no wonder they have perpetual d…
While I tend to agree with you Lewis I am far, far more concerned about global warming and climate change than any other issue. Without a livable world to occupy what difference does any thing else matter. Last time I checked you can't just go out a…
Disappointing I'm sure but understandable. This fund has been a solid option in the health category and that has a lot to do with not only equity selection but AUM prudence. It's exactly what I would look for in a specialized category fund. I've nev…
I'm aware of that. I just wasn't aware that ETF's have a different set of rules. FWIW I don't put a whole lot of stock in the daily list anyway but I do monitor quarterly changes.
