As a trading vehicle, maybe, if you follow the sector and stay on top of it. As a buy-and-hold investor I'm not so sure long term. Personally I think the alternative energy space holds better prospects. Everyone will have to decide for themselves. F…
Me too, especially after their great start. Heartbreaking and as a Vikings fan I know the meaning of the word. The good news - it won't be the Pats this year winning the Super Bowl. Whatever, I'm only watching to see the halftime show.

Vintage, I selected 'Fund Discussions' because I felt that issues which affected 'futures' might have an effect on funds. I suppose one could say that many similar posts here could go either way. My intent was not to draw attention to politics or wa…
I don't know if this applies to you but both my T-IRA and Roth accounts are with Fidelity. When I convert the T holdings to the Roth it's nearly instantaneous. No fuss, no muss.
@Crash - I agree with @catch22 and @Tarwheel. If at all possible convert your T-IRA to a Roth IRA. You'll still pay taxes on the money you convert but at least the remainder can continue to grow in your Roth tax free. If you put the money into a tax…
I had been thinking about selling some of my real estate holdings the last 6 weeks because of the nice run they had last year. Did so at the open and bought some Broadcom, a new position for me. The Barrons article I linked this morning pushed me ov…
hank said "Immigration looms large among people’s worries worldwide."
No doubt. It's not easy finding a safe haven these days where you can just work and live without fearing for your life. Reminds me of farmers and fisherman I met in Vietnam.

From Investopedia:
"The same contribution limits apply as for regular IRA and 401(k) plans. In 2019 (and again in 2020), the maximum IRA contribution is $6,000, plus a $1,000 catch-up for those age 50 or above. The maximum for 401(k) plans is $19,00…
Gary, I would expect that the things you mentioned above would more likely be placed in a trust or similar rather than in an IRA but I have no way of knowing that for sure.
IOFIX is indeed a niche-fund. I would not however accuse them of doing things backhanded but rather just differently than all the others. I'm providing just the facts below, you can Google the heck out of it on your own. Numerous articles/opinions o…
I own 6 bond funds (words that I never ever expected to hear coming out of my mouth) but all in an Roth IRA to avoid paying taxes on the income generated by them. All have greater than 4% yields, 5 of them twice as much. (FWIW: IOFIX, BIT, PCI, PDI,…
Thanks John. I don't know enough about all the ins and outs of your particular situation so I won't comment further. All I was thinking is that I as a former self-employed individual holding an SEP-IRA I have been busy converting my SEP-IRA to a Ro…
@stillers - I pulled this off Fidelity's Fixed Income research site:

Had it and sold after a 4X run up. Too much drama for me to take them seriously as an investment I wanted to hold on too. Not interested in touching it now but that's just me.
Gary: "...you may not need to start RMDs for your wife next year. Depends on when the SECURE Act kicks in."
At Fidelity, at least, it apparently already has. I had mine setup on auto pilot through Fidelity to start in 2020. One 5-min phone call was…

One of the greatest hedge fund managers ever says he couldn’t have been more wrong this year
The article contains links to the full Bloomberg interview.
@Gary - you said "Weekly sentiment survey is gossip and fake news."
How so?
Are you implying that AAII is lying, or their subscribers are lying or what?

@rforno - precisely! Have a plan and go about your life. One only needs to look at the track record of forecasts and/or forecasters to realize that flipping a coin may be just as accurate.
They're all nervous because John keeps predicting crashes and/or corrections. As for what's driving prices higher - no clue. MM's have zero appeal for me. I'd rather buy MMM or even GE then watch my money wasting away like that.
@Derf - if you're referring to the IRS rules I believe the Cliff Note version is that non-spousal beneficiaries will have to take out more because the time frame has been shortened to 10 years. In other words, my children who are the only beneficiar…

If we get a selloff of any sort, and that's a big if, I'd suspect to see a lot more funds flowing into the commodity sector, maybe gold in particular. Fun to watch.
I was wondering why they would do that. You see last week I ordered Christmas gifts for my grandchildren using Amazon Prime. One order took three separate shipments divided between the USPS and UPS. Two items never made it despite being shown as del…
There are others FD. RQI is up 36+% this year, VNQ 24% something. I already own the others mentioned except for PIMIX. Everyone has to find their own groove.
