Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
In addition charges and prosecution of all involved in lawlessness including the sitting president I most hope to see at a minimum 2nd degree murder convictions for those responsible for Officer Brian D. Sicknick's death.
I think that VLAAX is the closest to PRWCX on a performance basis with FPURX trailing. Use the 'compare' tool on Fidelity's mutual fund page to evaluate other metrics. I don't think that you can go wrong with any of these 3.
So are you saying that if they had been successful in taking the vice president and members of the house and senate as hostages that the market wouldn't have reacted? I'll take two of whatever it is you're having.
How would your opinion or outlook change if they had been successful in a takeover? Many suspect they had inside help based on the lack of resistance and probable assistance from those who were supposed to be protecting the capitol from just this so…
FWIW, according to the prospectus DODFX benchmarks it's performance against the MSCI EM Index which includes Korea. Apparently the FTSE EM Index does not include Korea. The Vanguard ETF (VWO) models itself on the FTSE index.
@davfor - thank you. It's done remarkably well.
Fun day today. I added to ARKF & ARKG and I opened new positions in DIVO & WEC all of which I'll probably come to regret over the next few months. I think the ARK funds will continue to bear f…
@catch - It all sounds to familiar. To your statement "Everyone has there own assessment of risk." at this juncture in my investing travails I'm less concerned with FOMO than I am in FOGMAK'ed.
@davidrmoran - not that it matters but Fidelity states this about account historical rate of return:
"The returns shown on the Historical Returns card are Investment Rate of Return values. Your Investment Rate of Return uses a time-weighted formula…
I was looking at the same thing david. I'm guessing that it must have something to do with the mid-cap inclusion in the Russell. I've never invested in either index but according to Fidelity I might have been better off doing so. However, and it's a…
@bee - I'm wondering if you might use PRBLX instead of VONE if you were tying to replicate a Russell 1000 index fund.
Also, have some chosen to use that index instead of the S&P 500 index?
@bee - I agree with you that 67% losses is a lot more than 'some'. I was thinking more along the lines of power plants, factories, businesses, home heating and cooling, planes & trains as some of the bigger sources of rejected energy.
To demonstrate how little I know I suspect that year-end profit taking is responsible for much of the action. It could also be the robin hood crowd playing games which I know even less about.
That wasn't the point. It's very probable that one of those 5 sectors will lag badly, Why allocate to it at all? Nobody expects 100% equality at all times.
Year end cleanup:
Sold T for tax purposes. I'll take a capital gains loss but I'm fairly certain I can repurchase the shares next year at the same or possibly lower cost.
Added to my ARK stable by buying a small position in ARKF. Strictly a small …
@msf - and I agree on all of that. If I was the owner of FGDFX shares I most certainly would not want the managers to maintain a 20% equal weight distribution in the least advantageous sector just for appearances sake.
Following that line of thinking in my own Roth I chose BIAWX, MGGPX & POAGX. Honestly I don't feel like I have to watch or monitor any of them but I still do anyway. As they have continued to charge forward and upward I decided to quit with furt…
@catch22 - Thanks! Cool site. I wasn't aware that they broke down quotes/data like this.
Trying to stay warm but a winter storm just kicked off about 30 minutes ago. It was about 35 degrees this am when I was out rescuing wholly bear caterpillars o…
I like the concept but prefer the ARK family of funds at this time and have since March. I employ ARKK and ARKG. I get my fill of the FAANG stocks elsewhere.
I believe that he was drinking or taking something much different than bathwater. Otherwise I bailed before the crash because like you I too became uncomfortable with his overexposure and decisions. I wanted to stick around because I thought he was …
@msf - I've always thought of the S&P 500 as a stock market index that tracks the stocks of the largest 500 U.S. companies. Today's market environment does not lead me to believe that the current list is made up of a 50-50 split growth v. value.…
@Rbrt - not necessarily would I overweight. Have that plan in the works ahead of time and stick to it. If it doesn't work out then decide if you need a new plan. The whole exercise is meant to take your biases, or the markets, out of the equation. E…
A bit confusing as the second paragraph of the WaPo article states "Experts said it does not appear more deadly or resistant to vaccines."
However, deeper into the article it says "John Edmunds, an infectious diseases expert at the London School o…
