Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
@David - by giving it a rest I was inferring that not every topic on this board needs to be taken off topic or even suggestive of same. I just felt that the original topic should be respected as it stood, remembering a president who died tragically.…
Mike, you're the first that I've heard express that sentiment. Henceforth I will say "almost no one." As for myself I've never been fully convinced by physical evidence, rhetoric or theory that Oswald acted alone. It will always just be a sad, sad d…
Brian I think your comment was fine, I know of no one that believes what the Warren Commission fed to the nation. David, I think sometimes you should just give it a rest.
It is, always has been and most likely always will be (never say never). MFO Premium will run through a different portal.
I'll let Dr. Snowball and others provide the rest of the details.
Sanders remarks were on climate changeterrorism and not necessarily ISIS. I hate the political swill this discussion board has descended into.
Ted, I think Roy was right.
Old_Joe - I'm of the opinion that anyone working a 40-hr a week job should be paid enough to enjoy a decent (note, not necessarily the best) standard of living along with a 401k plan and adequate healthcare without having to rely on government progr…
Lewis, I know of the problems associated with minimum wages and of the crop subsidies. They're real. But I also believe that tying them together to make your statement or point is a stretch. It works but it's still a stretch.
"Instead we subsidize low-skilled fast food industry jobs with cheap corn for feed stock and minimum wages so low that workers end up on food stamps payed for by the government. Essentially a McDonald's employee is really a government one today."

@ Hawley - just curious, is there anything special about the dates/times you've chosen for rebalancing?
On the topic of this thread I'm with Scott. There are almost always values to be had if you're interested in them but the market as a whole is …
Neither yes or no. Let's say squishy. I own BBL which I add to when the valuation gets ridiculous which as you all know works in both directions. BHP Billiton PLC is engaged in minerals exploration, development, production & processing, and oil …
Costco has also had high profile disagreements with Apple and Coke. The Coke problem was worked out in 30-60 days but Apple was absent from Costco's aisles for 3 years. They aren't afraid to take a stand. Whether it benefits their members or shareho…
Yes, it's a beautiful thing if you have the stomach for it. Fidelity's brokerage page/statements show me losing my butt but I can still find it with at least one hand. Long PDI, RCS, PTY and PFN.
Powerful vocabulary - what one uses to attract attention and speculation when substance is lacking to support a claim. Poor Bill has a bruised ego, waa-waa.
Finally got an email from ST today. This was curious to me:
"Federal authorities had requested that they be allowed to complete much of their investigation before we notified clients. In coordination with them, we are now able to alert you of this …
With all due respect Mr. Blodgett and all other prognosticators have no better insight into what the market may or may not due in the future than the pile of rocks outside your front door. Stuff happens.
For a rebuttal to the Barron's article go here: http://mlpguy.com/archives/5181
Writers on or for Barron's have been after MLP's for some time now beginning with the dreck they published on Kinder Morgan. I'm not sure what their agenda is but I'm d…
OJ - most likely all find the conduct of the airlines unacceptable but those with the money to affect change either own their own plane or fly on someone else's private jet/chopper.
Looking to add to POAGX as it's been taking a hit due to it's biotech holdings. Likewise HQL and THQ. In the "Do not try this at home department" I bought MLPL. May also add to KMI.
The stock market is absolutely one of those places where you need to check your ego outside the door. Even when you may be right about an investment it won't matter if the collective market disagrees with you. Above all else, learn to protect your p…
BobC you are absolutely correct. I especially like your last comment. While many obsess about a 1-2% slump in the DOW or S&P, or if they are properly allocated, diversified and sector selected the vast majority are just trying to get through the…
Yes Scott. Like you I picked them shortly after they were issued and fell down near the $2 range. Sold them when they got back to $4 and haven't had then since until Friday. It's just crazy money and a bet that KMI will get back to $40 and hopefully…
Scott asked - "If Amex sells the Costco credit portfolio to Citi and Citi issues you a new credit card, are you getting a new account/closing old account or is your account just moved over and you get a new card for it that isn't Amex but Visa?"
Th…
I know I started this whole fiasco by saying that I was looking at the Fidelity Amex 2% cashback on everything card but now I'm not so sure given a Bloomberg report that Fidelity may be dropping Amex as well. See here:
