Making tactical asset allocation tilts is not market timing.
@msf, you're one of those people that complained about their tax refund being smaller this year, aren't you? Even though at the end of the day your taxes went down significantly.

”I am lookin for a growth fund that is not heavily weighted on Tech, not above 50 % at least.”
Your question suggests that such a fund would be an exception to the rule or an aberration from norm. Frankly, I’m not aware of any diversified growth f…

At age 71, my rule is to take no more (in dollars) than one half of what my five year average total return has been. I governed both of my late parents money this way and found that their principal grew over time. Of course, one needs an ample poo…
@JoJo26: From my perspective you never really answered my question I asked on you in an earlier engagement as your answer(s) seemed only to partially address my question.

Would it be okay to talk about Fidelity?
I've notified Fidelity that the amount in box 1A that gets downloaded into TurboTax doesn't exactly match the amount on their pdf 1099-DIV.

@JoJo26- let's try this one more time:
That's also one of the main points in that article, so why is it "BS"?
Let's try THIS one more time. 403(b)s are not dominated by these garbage annuities. It really is a total misrepresentation.

@JoJo26- Well, OK, but most everyone here at MFO is well aware of the annuity scams. That's also one of the main points in that article, so why is it "BS"?
If all MFO were aware, then we wouln't need to see any posts about it. Sometimes I feel some …
@Old_Joe, I'm actually thinking of everyone else out there and not myself at all. I use my situation because that's what I have to go off of, anecdotally, however, it is to everybody's benefit to know that annuities are a huge rip off.
@JoJo26: Is your wife's 403(b) a variable annuity ? If so is there a early surrender penalty?

Ted
No, and they never should be. Annuities are a joke. The hidden costs in these are ridiculous.
Is this surprising to anybody?
When the median household income is around $60k, how can you expect a high % of people maxing out 401(k)s? $18k would be 30% going to retirement savings - just not going to happen.

I've also never heard of buying a mutual fund at a discount unless like @JoJo26 implied, you are saying you don't have to pay loads on A-shares for certain families. If so, that is not unique. A share loads are waved at many brokerages like Schwab, …

Like MikeM, I don't understand what's to prevent anyone from just going to Schwab (or any broker of choice) and simply buying an ETF directly?
Absolutely nothing. @Old_Skeet is essentially getting pick pocketed by whoever he's working through.
