In checking out an issue on another thread I was reminded that Schwab has a decent portfolio manager and research setup. One would need an account with them I suppose. The portfolio manager will take non-Schwab funds and ETFs too.
I tried it out. …
TSLA has certainly gotten a haircut here, a military cut.
Hybrids are in a different league IMO. Either way, fuel prices being high or low, the hybrid driver is saving real money.
Thanks @johnN.
I agree with the author on the comment regarding interest rates dramatically rising. One has to take the media spin with caution. It will not be the end of the world when the first rate hike is enacted but it makes for exciting news…
The headline is misleading. LM is coming out with these new offerings and wants to entice their customers into investing in them. The older funds are still available from what I gather.
It's very new and the fund opened right when high yield took a sharp drop. At 8% of the portfolio I won't worry much. It took them a month just to get their assets up.
Where did you see the fund being down 2.43% YTD? I also checked it out on Schwa…
I had no problem with the link. Was that your issue @davidrmoran? It should take you to here. http://fundresearch.fidelity.com/mutual-funds/fidelity-funds-daily-pricing-yields?refpr=MFRes_016
I have noticed that my unconstrained bond fund has slowly increased their shorting on certain instruments. Is this something that might be catching on in the fund universe?
I didn't see this in either article but was imprisonment ever suggested here? Perhaps one year behind bars might have been appropriate and with that he probably would have lost his job. These profesional fields are very tight so further employment …
A sad ending for the two hostages who were killed. The perpetrator was indeed a nutcase and there will be questions as to why he was allowed on the streets.
I agree with the notion that the punishment should fit the crime. This seems over the top. Perhaps a suspension of license to practice and some remedial training would have sufficed. His firm might fire him anyway.
On the subject of felonies, ther…
@LLJB, I agree with you. Oil is in free fall mode and it might take some sort of intervention to stop it. Somewhere, someone knows when to pull that trigger. Then the big question is will we see a hockey stick rebound.
Not all alt funds are complicated nor hard to understand. Perhaps this is the reason some write off the whole idea. Take an Unconstrained bond fund for example. The typical fund mandate is to invest in any type of bond with no restrictions on geogra…
In case someone gets the wrong idea on distributions, they are great for long term holding of funds. While the NAV drops you are getting additional shares as well. it is like building a foundation of sorts. In later years the power of those addition…
Cannot be said any better than that. There is indeed a lot of emotion and rumors going around with this oil drop. Good companies getting trashed because computers and traders alike are selling energy stocks. It's a frenzy.
Thanks for that comment …
Mike, can you confirm which price you got? Don't they declare distributions at the closing price?
Edit: That didn't come out the way I wanted. Of course they declare on the closing price. I think you are okay as long as you bought the fund at the …
The thing is, a lot of these oil companies have done nothing wrong. They are guilty by association. If this does turn around they would be the ones to recover nicely unless they go out of business first.
I have to put AAPL on the list. It has done very well but this month has tried to give it all back. I haven't found out if it is rebalancing from funds etc that dropped the price or algo's or whatever. There has been no negative news.
@catch22, I…
There is a terse discussion over at the M* forums on this same topic. Some additional thoughts can be read over there.
