Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
@Edmond,
I looked at ACVVX before for that same reason but the ER was what steered me away from that. Any reason why it's so high or is that normal for these types of funds?
StockTwits is full of posters who plopped money into these high leveraged vehicles and got burned. Some even bought on margin which ended in catastrophe. Kids wanting to get rich quick but end up bankrupt.
Before I sorta disappear, the best thing to do seems to be a self-ignore on those that call one out. Certain people will never agree on these subjects. It takes away the opportunity to have discourse but that is a personal prerogative.

@catch22,
Best thing to do here is to make note of which investments are outperforming versus the SP index. It will show if you have any laggards. This is just one instance in time so you need more evidence before ejecting any bad performers. Same …
It's not that hard to separate. Keeping personal politics out of the discussion is key. For ex:
Poster A: President Trump said in his speech last night that he will push for building new nuclear plants across the country. GE and some others should…
I didn't say I was. That is your perception. In that regard peer pressure will not work here as one person's reasons for calling a poster on their comment may not be reasonable.
We would have to define politics as a subject that has no bearing on investments. A new administration policy or regulation might affect the markets one way or another. The conversations that are purely political or those that evolve into personal s…
What I have noticed is that the Asia and Euro markets for the most part have gone sideways since the beginning of the year. In the case of Asia the markets have almost gone flat. Quite interesting.
@willmatt72
Correct. There are cases when politics does affect investments but those should be policy discussions with the direct connection rather than the bickering and personal sniping we have now. I would favor the no politics solution.
The political tone here has even been noted on other investing forums. It's not just local.
Great speech. The markets loved it and will continue to rally. Never mind the President Trump curmudgeons here. They will never be happy.
I will keep this simple so you can focus OJ. Your first paragraph was all that was needed to make your point regarding the time frame and financial climate. The second paragraph is your response from the other thread which you cannot let go. Throwin…
And while I do respect your desire to keep politics out of financial affairs, it is a real fact (not one of the new "alternative" variety) that Mr. Obama was the president during that time frame. I'm not postulating that the presidency is directly r…
Skinheads? white supremacists? Way too much MSNBC I think OJ.
Discussions like this make me wonder why I returned. But, they also have consequences. I changed my Amazon prefs to another organization. That probably won't shut this site down tomorro…
Your reference to the Tea Party was clear to me, not sure why you are backing off that?
This started earlier with the 2000 elections. Some people cannot accept the results if their candidate loses. This time around it's very different. I've never …
Then I suppose the Tea Party is to blame for the incessant hate diatribe that is CNN. Their constant references to a certain German dictator or to white- hooded southerners came from that source? CNN has destroyed themselves.
If anyone is looking t…
Nothing weak about it. I looked up Robert Mann whose name is on the graph. Dem operative, what a surprise.
Truth? "What difference does it make now?"

Regarding ISIS, "we have contained them." N…
" What I am talking about is our intelligence agencies found it prudent to leak info on what Trump / aides are doing."
Is that really the proper course to take? Leaking to the NYT and Wapo? If they felt it was so important to tell someone then th…
In my "aggressive " portfolio;
AMJVX is up 2.90%. Distribution yield 4.76%
BIGRX is up 4.79%. Distribution yield 2.19%
ALNNX is up 2%. Distribution yield 4.6%.
The fakes and counterfeits issues on Amazon have made me decide to shop direct with the vendor instead. I have found for the most part that the prices are competitive. I find myself going back to brick and mortar places a bit more as well.
This is…
Thanks again for the updates. Have a safe travel.
Asia markets have been quiet lately except for Japan which did go down a little bit. While some companies like Toshiba are having bad days, others like the mega banks have countered with gains in t…
