Last year I stopped by in one to get a hd antenna for television. They had no idea what I was talking about. The place I was staying at had Antenna TV. The antenna was in poor shape.
I bought one at a big box store. Picks up about 30 channels for …
I said 9.6mb but Catch's mention of baud refreshed my memory. So was it 9600 baud? It took about 10-15 minutes to download a webpage too. Of course I had a old Apple LC2. 16mhz processor.
So each truck is valued at over $25million? Not likely. A freeway accident or a burnt transmission could kill this stock.
The article touched on the assets vs liabilities of the company. No thanks.
It was not. As I recall, Pfizer acquired Pharmacia. Pharmacia was a mix of companies that included Searle. Searle was a subsidiary of Monsanto. Pfizer and Monsanto were never together.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
The deal involving Pfizer and Hospira is a huge one. Hospira used to be Abbott's hospital division manufacturing IV solutions and rubbings, injectables, and a whole lot more including medical devices. There are only a handful of companies that manuf…
Having 50% of a fund in one stock can put the investor in a position they didn't want. If I had FAIRX for 10% of my portfolio then I have a lot of AIG. if any of my other funds have AIG too, that could complicate things.
I have held ARYVX since inception. It has been for the most part a steady earner. Right now it is about 4% of my portfolio. I agree with @scott, a DCA plan would be better here.
"Believes current shareholders know what to expect and are in it for the long term, five years or more."
Five years is a long time to wait. With Six You Get Eggroll.
FDR was the last President to ban gold from ownership by citizens. From what I understood through the stories of that generation, a lot of it went hiding to wait for the day when it became legal again as history had shown. Was the ban more of the in…
Maybe that third of the people in Woonsocket should move.
It all depends on what the meaning of ..insert word here is. That one phrase changed society for the worse. No irony there.
Over and out.
@Mona, thanks for that info. These are not funds that I watch so I am at a disadvantage here. Interesting that they both have a go anywhere kind of mandate but seem satisfied to stay put where they are. The intrincities of bond funds always confuse…
The term "those people" is not derogatory. For those of us not on food stamps or EBT which is the modern method, the word those is used correctly.
All this PC wrangling of the english language needs to stop. No wonder people do not talk to each ot…
@JC, is it not that their principles are more or less 'go anywhere' / opportunistic?
On first glance these funds look very similar. I went to the prospectus of each fund.
There are a few details like the allocation percentages that are different. …
I wonder about the decision by Sprint to open more stores. Are they really that successful in that part of their business? They seem to be the perennial third place provider behind ATT and Verizon with no visibility ahead.
"Gosh, you'd better tell M*, which categorizes them identically and also benchmarks them identically --- and not high yield."
It would not be the first time M* has mis-categorized funds. This has been an issue for them.
Australia's real estate market which has been in boom mode for quite some time is showing signs of slowing. Property values continue to rise as wealthy Chinese among other foreign buyers snap up properties.
Sounds like Vancouver BC.
That was weird. Yes, Mr. Stevens has gotten spooked. Also in another related article, it was mentioned that in the past, the RBA has cut rates in multiple steps so the thought is another cut may come soon.
I guess I don't have a particular fixed income product I could call my favorite at the moment. For years I enjoyed good returns from GNMAs via BGNMX. With the possibility of rising rates hanging over us for a couple of years now, I pulled out of tha…
It seemed like a combination of things pushed the markets down. The GDP numbers for sure, the Fed rumours as mentioned above, and Russia cutting its rate by two points in a surprise move. Too much negativity for the markets to swallow.
Once all the hot air that Cramer blew in on this issue escapes, it will be all over except for the wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Then again, I could be wrong. FB is a stock I thought would do the Roman candle act but it's still there. I'm old fas…
I don't buy the WH numbers either. For one, they took government spending out of the equation. Net exports was the other measurement.
@Ted, I will be interested to see your defensive posture going forward from here. I started to get defensive in …
From the article: "Customers will be emailed information about the changes in the next few days, she said."
That email should have gone out today. At least they are acknowledging their mistake even though it took a while.
@scott, let's hope things don't go that far. The idea of the country people having it better is not only due to the land but also that they work hard to achieve success. Farming is like having your own business.
The cities will become dread zones …
