Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
Are these funds the same as floating rate funds like DLFRX?
Edit: did some research and found out they're the same.
These funds have been touted as an alternative to money market funds. Im not sure they are.

We could show you, but then we would have to kill you.

@davfor, Thanks for sharing that. I like how you customized the pots/sleeves to your situation and preferences. One thing in particular I like about this system is that just like your's, it can run by itself with minimal effort.

It looks like I do own it already via ACDJX. 6683 shares according to M*'s latest data. It also holds major positions in Gilead, Amgen, J&J,Celgene and Biogen Idec.
@scott, I am sure as apps are developed that there will be one ( if not already) that will display your portfolio along with related market news. Sort of your own private CNBC. These are already available on computers and iPhones so I may be behind…
If there are any other biotech companies in the spotlight for acquisition, I would think a short term bounce for their stocks is possible.
I think AbbVie will quickly erase any drop as the deal gets recognized as a good one. Looks like J&J fel…
Fascinating post @scott. The comments are very telling, especially the one regarding money and opinion. So we should invest our money based on opinion and wishes? Not this guy.
I have not checked out this crowd funding phenomena. I prefer compani…
@John Chisum: Never confuse risk and volatility, they are not the same.

Okay, let me restate; the fund has higher risk and higher volatility.

It seems that this discussion came up in another thread not so long ago.

It's not the bonds themselves but in how the funds invest in them. These funds are an alternative to straight bond funds that invest in one type of bond or a specific duration.
The use of the term alternative is being overplayed here to some exten…
One point that hasn't been brought up yet is that LL is being singled out here in a industry full of brands. There are a number of laminated flooring brands out there including Pergo, Armstrong etc.

Not surprising. The one time I went into Alibaba to see what all the fuss was about, I saw only listings for stuff that had to be fake. Prices too good to be true. A lot of bulk materials for business or manufacturing. Equipment for the same.

Yep, that's another story that stinks. If insider trading is illegal, then this type of investing should also be illegal. I don't see the difference in either of the two cases. The fact is that someone is profiting on bad news and that same someone …
The plot thickens. Apparently this story was the product of a group of investors who are shorting the stock. They sent the story to 60 Minutes. The smell of fish is growing and to use a word from another poster here, greasy.

Why would they rewrite the objective unless they wanted to change it. This is a well respected fund that has done very well over the years. So why do anything different?

That's why I posted it under fund discussions. There is a off topic section too. Wonder what that is for?
You are going to miss me in a couple of weeks. Heading to Tokyo and then to the US. I will stop by when time allows.
Maybe their thinking is similar to the Postal Service? Revenue from sales of stamps drops due to email and reduced dependence on letters so what does the PO do? Raise the price of stamps.
A losing strategy in my book.
It should be interesting to see how long the premium site stays up. I always found Bespoke to be lacking somewhat. Not really any good incentive to move to premium.
@linter, I have not bought any biotech directly or via etf. Mostly they are through the funds I own. One if my main funds uses the Russell 1000 Growth index as a benchmark, (ACDJX) so there is good presence of biotech there.
I'm just recalling fr…
@linter,
It seems to me that the bigger possibility is that the larger biotech companies with cash will buy out the weaker ones during a big downturn, provided they have a promising pipeline. In other words, it is 50% off sale time.
