This is such a niche fund holding. I'd be very careful. If youre interested in EM take a look at ARTYX. Its done quite well in its 3 years. Has also held up well compared to its category. MY favorite intl holding though is MFAIX. Best risk adj…
Hi folks, I know I was critized on the board, by some, who felt that I held way to many funds (close to fifty). However, I don't have but two funds that are down more than IOFAX (an income fund) and they are considered small/mid cap funds with a lo…
I took my equity allocation down to 20% in my retirement account when the S&P hit 2900. I increased back to 45% when S&P hit 2400. I plan to increase again if/when S&P hits 2300.
@LewisBraham sounds like you feel we've got more to go. there certainly is a lot of negative news that's going to be coming out with COVID and the economy over the next 2 months. that's pretty much guaranteed. Only question is whether that's al…
Interesting @davfor ... maybe a good contrary indicator although the news is clearly going to be bad on equities for a couple of months.... hard to add to equities here
I have toehold positions in global reach and emerging markets but performance has been pretty meh... thats more the joke....have any of their other funds impressed?
AKREX is a small position for me. Im actually more worried about its 45% allocation to financials than I am about manager succession. Performance has been outstanding but I worry that his 4x weighting of financials vs the benchmark will bite him o…
So assets under management are now down to $1.4B. I'm just curious have all of you sold off your positions now. Anyone still holding? I have a very small position in it that I bought when I worried about the fund closing... I'm probably going to …
Hey @Bee I would add AKREX, APGAX , CPOAX, and ARTYX. I'm especially intrigued by CPOAX which showed up on MFO screens. Please let me know if anyone here has evaluated it. its a Dennis Lynch fund.
I'm going to be selling out of ARTJX and taking advantage of the tax loss. I will be adding to AKREX, APGAX, and MGGPX all of which have done pretty well . Has anyone evaluated CPOAX or ARTYX? Both funds have held up really well in this selloff…
I don't think it was disregarded. But its happening across the entire bond and stock markets. Its really more systemic risk which is why the Fed is stepping in now.
@Old_Joe oh yes I understand that. I understand what's happening. Just asking for folks thoughts on whether to ride it out or sell. Treasury is stepping in now for MBS. Does that increase likelihood that we will get whole again over time?
Thanks for sharing this @TheShadow Well this is clearly warning strong likelihood of more downside.... so maybe best to take our licks and sell today....
Yeah this is a conundrum... do you sell at this point down 30% or do you hope that they now have a buyer in the Treasury that the bonds will now reprice upward more in line with their value..... They had to sell.$1.2 B in assets to meet redemptions.…
Thanks for sharing. The question becomes which to buy. By my evaluation prior to the shock DHEIX and SEMMX were low risk short term MBS funds but both have gotten hit. dheix is still "only"down 5.6% for year
@Sven I’m a major user and big believer of MFO Premium. I use it to analyze every fund before I purchase. Charles and team do an incredible job in providing data that you can’t access anywhere else unless you are a professional in the biz. We are…
@Derf and @catch22 thanks so much for providing charts and links to info on the bailout package. Catch22 that chart on the SPY large cap was particularly helpful. We had a lot more downside after all the different bailout packages went into effect…
@rforno now you’re talking! That’s the kind of purchase I can get behind... Love LaPhroaig along with my Balvenie Caribbean cask which is quite smooth....
@finder I think you are spot on. The Italian numbers are extremely concerning. Over 700 deaths today. And health experts in the U.S. keep saying that we are on the same path. I'm hopeful that we don't see these same spikes but we just don't know…
Alphacentric just released this letter. I'm not sure this relieves my concerns. It doesn't explain the steep drops:

Valued Investor,
We appreciate your commitment in the AlphaCentric Income Opportunities Fund IOFIX | IOFCX | IOFAX…
I agree with @Old_Joe. @JohnN I have asked you this before. Will you please read the articles and really consider how valuable they are before you post them. You are cluterring up the board with some really bad articles. Some are.also good but…
holy crap! Just goes to show that cash is the only sure thing. All the numbers on IOFAX and its consistency looked so strong. Also true for funds like SEMMX, DHEIX, which were identified in the conservative bond fund thread over the last couple …
Great topic. Thanks for starting it. I'm looking at DHEIX as a steady eddy. But to be quite honest with these volatile moves I haven't pulled the trigger on any of these. I'm just keeping money in my Schwab money market and waiting. How do we k…
Thanks Mike. I'm personally reluctant to add to any bonds when the 10 year treasury just hit its all time low in terms of yield. When things turnaround they could move awfully quick the other way just like they did on the way down.
Something to be very wary of is that bond rates are at all time lows right now.... I personally would be wary about taking on new positions in bond funds right now
