Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
Top performer ytd: SFGIX +7.73. Number two: PRIDX +6.96. Worst: TRREX: +0.32. Bonds, of course, are a horse of a different color: PREMX +2.95% and PRSNX +1.28.
Hank, Purpose is curiosity, to see if their are any momentum trends at the moment and to see what MFO'ers hold in their portfolio. I could of easily used 6 months or the past year.
@Art - Thanks. I'd probably have deleted my (pointed) remark if you hadn't responded first. It was directed as much at myself for responding to the query as at anyone else. I agree short-term trends are fun to watch - and I do. But in the longer-term context of preserving and growing our wealth over the decades they are quite meaningless.
I'd make an exception, however, for someone actively trading a particular asset if that's the goal. So, a possible future question for the board might be: What speculative position(s) do you currently have on? When did you buy and at what price? How is the assert performing? At what point would you sell?
Hank,Sometimes I just want to read about mutual funds. Maybe a new idea or fund. Nearing retirement so at least with some of the money looking to hit homeruns. That is why I bought FARNX which has quickly got me 8%. Don't like that so many post of late have become political and get off topic quickly.
Hi guys! Good thread, Art. I'm warming up some crow for Duke and I since I badmouthed my leader in past posts. This sector is now the leader in my portfolio. FSPHX - 11.41% - healthcare. I will also give some to all the Barron round table people who, to the man, almost said consumer staples are a no go this year.....its second posting a 6.44%. The laggards are the usual suspects: PONDX and VWINX. They will do their job when the time comes. God bless the Pudd
