Why The ETF Acronym Can Be Misleading

FYI: Sometimes an ETF isn’t exactly an ETF.
As investors, the media and regulators put more focus on exchange-traded funds, it's worth asking what exactly an ETF is.

  • Sometimes an acronym isn't exactly an acronym, either. IMHO, ETF isn't an acronym, as NATO, OPEC, radar, and laser are.

    Right; defined as pronounceable abbreviation (a losing cause almost certainly).
