Some years back, a friend who seemed like a knowledgeable mutual fund investor, never bought small-cap funds but mid-cap funds such as ARTMX, POAGX, ARTQX and VASVX.
He understood he would not get the potentially higher returns of small cap funds, but he felt more comfortable with the risk/reward of the mid-caps.
